Question Miranda

What or who do you think this song is about?

I've heard speculation that it's about Anne Heche or Carol Ann, but does anyone else think this song is mainly about Stevie? I've been listening to it a lot lately and am convinced that it is about her.

Although my opinion was pretty unpopular on Mick's board, I'm gunna say that "Miranda" is the only one that is about Anne Heche. I think that "Come" is not about Anne Heche... the live performance in Dublin and the fact that he came out and said "It's about Anne Heche" were lightbulbs for me on that one.

So, Miranda= Anne Heche, Come is not about Anne Heche.

But I'm probably totally wrong.

Yeah, I thought Come was rather suspicious. It didn't seem like Lindsey to come out and say "This is about that cracker!"

I just think that Miranda totally describes Stevie's career, the "lion", and her thirst for the spotlight.

"Miranda" is about a girl who was abused by her father, and turns to substances and craves attention in order to escape.

Lindsey also sings that she "can't stand to be loved, but she loves to be seen."

That's clearly Anne Heche, and not Stevie.
Heche has alleged that her father abused her, and has talked about being uncomfortable with her fame (yet it's obvious she craves that attention).
Stevie, on the other hand, seems to have a wonderful relationship with her father, and makes no bones about the fact that she loves it when people love her. She eats up adoration.

Based on the lyrics of each, I'd be far more inclined to believe that "Come" is about Stevie, than I ever would to believe that "Miranda" is.

I also remember reading something about it being about a porn star... but I don't know if Lindsey ever came right out and said that, or if it was just speculation by someone in the press.

No, Lindsey never said Miranda was about a porn star. That was a flippant remark by someone in the press reviewing the album. I think the guesses amongst fans were between Miranda or Silver Girl as to what the writer was taking about, because even the writer didn't make clear which song he/she was referring to.

This has got to be his darkest song. Gives me chills.

It is pretty killer, isn't it? I love it.

They should have released this as a single... I totally believe that it has all the makings of a sleeper-hit.

The right video could have put this one on top. I agree it had the best potential as a single.

Oh, and yes, it's surely about Anne Heche not Stevie. Come is another story.

I always thought Miranda was about a model (or models in general.) With Kristen being a photog, it might fit.

I thought the same thing when I first heard the song.

Did you read this somewhere? I'd love a link if you have one.

I always interpreted it to be mostly about Stevie because it reads as if it could be about her.

If you read the book, Call Me Crazy by Anne Heche, you'll see how this song is completely about her.
