Hollywood Bowl this Summer?

anyone know if they'll end the tour at the Hollywood Bowl?

I was relieved to see that white conservative Bush-loving Irvine wasn't the last stop.

That would be cool. I've managed to see all three of Mac's Hollywood Bowl shows (I even have them taped & I listen to them often), so I feel a sort of imperative to attend additional Bowl shows.

Also, I think the band should play the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It's a beautiful spot.

Where would the band play at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, unless i missed something they don't have a concert venue there?

oh, I would SOOO be there if it did. Wouldn't even have to worry about parking...can just walk there!

The Bowl would be awesome! But don't most bands usually play the Greek Theater whilst on a shed tour?

Greek Theatre is closed for renovation. But, should be opening soon. David Bowie is scheduled there in April.

So, they might still play the Greek then, huh? They're not heading to CA until June.

I'm seeing Bowie here in Austin in April at the best outdoor venue EVER, The Backyard.

The Greek isn't the type of venue Fleetwood Mac traditionally plays in California -- at least not in their Buckingham + Nicks incarnations. It's too small. It seats around 5,000. I believe it's slightly smaller than Universal Amphitheatre. Fleetwood Mac favors venues that seat from 10,000 to 20,000.

The weird thing about Los Angeles is that there really isn't a suitable outdoor amphitheatre (except for the Hollywood Bowl). Bands as popular as Fleetwood Mac have to play one of the sports arenas when they hit L.A. -- Staples Center, the Forum, the L.A. Sports Arena or even the Long Beach Sports Arena.

The closest large amphitheatre is Irvine Meadows, which is about 50 or 60 miles south of L.A. Huge bands generally play Irvine Meadows and/or the Arrowhead Pond (a sports arena). They usually ship the OzzFest out to Devore in the Inland Empire to play the trashy amphitheatre out there.

I don't think Hyundai Pavilion in Devore is trashy at all. What's trashy about it?
Unfortunately they are playing Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine, which I think sucks.

Maybe I just think it's trashy because I've only been there for Ozzfest, & it gets pretty trashed during Ozzfest. Plus, the location is essentially a trash location (all due apologies to residents of the Inland Empire). It's hot during the summer & dusty & it smells of livestock. It's also about where I saw the US Festivals I & II, but the amphitheatre hadn't been built yet. That was a trash fest, too, come to think of it.

You don't like Irvine Meadows? Why not? I think it's a great venue -- nestled prettily in the Laguna hills, fairly easy to find & get in & out of, staffed by mostly decent kids, excellent sound system, cool ocean breeze. A bit of a walk into the seating area, true . . . . but exercise is good for clearing one's head & getting the heart pumping. Irvine Meadows is also the site of one of Fleetwood Mac's & one of Stevie's greatest shows ever (in '82 & '83, respectively)!
