Thrown Down/Steal your Heart Away Singles!

Around these parts of the world there was never a 'proper' single so to speak. The few radio stations who chose to play parts of the Say You Will album were 'free' to pick up whatever they wanted to play.

All of them chose "Thrown Down", and that's really everything that sounded from Say You Will around here.

By the way, if they were going to release anything as a single, I pretty much disagree with some of the opinions here... "Thrown Down" and "Steal Your Heart Away" are the most radio-friendly tracks of the album; much more so than "Peacekeeper" or the title track, which were chosen before, and than the other stuff. JMHO.

"Thrown Down" and "Steal Your Heart Away" were not bad choices for singles at all... they just played it a bit too safe by releasing those two tracks.

If they really wanted to perk up people's ears, they should have released "Everybody Finds Out" and "Miranda" (which has dark subject matter in an irresistable pop/rock setting, much like Shawn Colvin's ultra-successful "Sunny Came Home").

I think that they chose the proper singles; I just disagree with the order. I would not have released "Peacekeeper" and "Say You Will" first. I would have done "Thrown Down" and "Steal You Heart Away" as the first two singles.

I don't think EFO would have done well on the pop charts or the AC. The dance, charts, maybe.

Oh, I agree.
I was thinking beyond AC... I think "Everybody Finds Out" could have actually had some Adult Top 40 success (not to be confused with the standard Top 40 stations), and definitely dance chart success.

Of course, I'm playing armchair quarterback here, so it's easy for me to say what the right course of action would have been.

From what I read on this board, I cant believe just how much FM are played on the radio in the USA. In the UK, to hear a FM song on the radio is about as likely as hearing Pink on Classical FM - although, having said that, on the rare occasion I do hear FM on the radio, its on the very rare occasion that Im listening to Radio2 so maybe they're played quite frequently on this station - would any UK FM/Radio2 fans care to enlightne me on this? Whilst in a taxi once I heard Say You Will (the song) which made my night(prior to this I was having a pretty crappy night)

I can't beleive they didn't have EFO remixed and sent to clubs, etc. like Planets of The Universe. Sometimes these older singers or groups won't get much airplay but will get constantly remixed and heard at clubs giving them sort of a new hipness. I know it's not the same as if they were still cracking the top 10 pop charts, but I think if it keeps them in peoples minds and lets people know they still recording, then great! Because there are a whole lot of people -some even moderate fans- who never knew TISL was released and who don't know about SYW! I think this is really surprising considering how well POTU did on the dance charts. #1!
Let Stevie be known as a DanceDiva or whatever, who cares as long as they are getting exposure. And I can guarantee you if they did another Madonna Vs. Stevie dance mix song with EFO and one of the new Madonna songs, Stevie would stomp all over Madonna's pastey white a_ _!!!!!

Actually, I change my mind, I think Destiny Rules would make a perfect single! Too bad they didn't release it!!!

(Oh, and I agree, I've always thought EFO is the perfect dance hit)

Ive heard FM on Century once or twice, but never any of the new stuff All we get is what Radio 2 plays no other stations will play them!!
