Default Thrown Down/Steal your Heart Away Singles!

Were these singles a bust or what? I never heard either of them on the radio. It is so sad. People really don't seem to give a fig about FM's new stuff because meanwhile I am hearing Gypsy three times a day on the radio! And I think Thrown Down, at least, is just as good.

Out of the gate, "Steal Your Heart Away" had more adds (radio stations that picked it up) than "Thrown Down," but in their second week of release, "SYHA" didn't receive any additional adds, while "Thrown Down" did. Overall, giving it more airplay than "SYHA" was receiving.

However, they were released right as most stations were switching over to their All-Christmas-Music format for the holidays (which seem to start earlier and earlier every year), and by the time playlists returned to normal in January, FM's latest singles were pretty much forgotten.

That'll probably be it for singles from 'SYW,' I doubt they'll bother to release any other tracks now.
Not sure why Warners chose to release them when they did.... they should have held them until a month or so before the next leg of the US tour starts.

Recently, my work switched over to regular satellite music (from muzac) and I hear Thrown Down and Steal Your Heart Away all the time!!! I've also heard new Sheryl Crow tunes like First Cut and Light in Your Eyes, but it's so cool to hear Thrown Down on speakers

Gypsy!? Wow...that would be nice. I hear GYOW and YMLF, which I love...but I would be happier to ehar Gypsy on the radio.

I did hear Thrown Down on the radio once, in an IHOP. That's the only time though. And I too hear Gypsy the most of anything (mainly on 95.9 around here).

Default This was recent by the way...

Also, it was the album version of Thrown Down that I heard. Not the Wall of Sound/Single version, as some have reported hearing.

I don't blame radio for not touching this stuff. It's no good.

Thrown Down is one of the most boring songs they've done. Not only does it go nowhere fast musically but it is just not catchy, something FM songs are supposed to be. It also doesn't help that it's a totally inferior rewrite of Gypsy.

The same goes for Steal Your Heart Away. Yeah, it's not a terrible song, but it's no better than the bland adult contemporary pop stuff. The best I can say about it is that it's kinda nice.

I think the production and delivery on the whole album is rather bland (exempting a few choice spots), to be quite honest. I think they did an excellent job picking the first singles from the album, I was way late to get Say You Will and these were the only two songs that immidiately spoke to me and I didn't even know they were singles. The music is great in both and they have really catchy choruses.

I'm dumbfounded as to why they haven't released Miranda as a single!

I heard SYHA at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I've heard it on the radio a couple times, before it was an official single. I've never heard Thrown Down on the radio...

i feel miranda was a real sleeper on the album. i'll never know why it was not released as a single, if not the first single. the chorus is one of the catchiest i have heard. it's probably in my FM top 10 songs.

i have yet to hear syha or td on the radio, except the one time i heard syha on one of our am stations long before it was released as a single (and long after the album came out).

it seems though that their tours are doing wonderfully despite lack of radio time for the new stuff. tourwise, they beat out j. timberlake & christina who have garbage on the radio all the time.

Hmm...I like Thrown Down and Steal Your Heart Away...but I think Running Through the Garden would be awesome as a single.
