All he was trying to do was save his family from hunger....I am teary-eyed right now even recalling this.(This happened 6 months ago). I also have an aunt who has had to have BOTH her legs amputated because she could not get proper medical attention.

I agree, the fingerprinting thing is a fine idea. However, the reason I am calling this "do nothing' is that I think that only a small percentage of them are actually going to submit to this.

The kind of anger that comes from knowing that this man wronged you and yours, but no justice can be expected. I can't even imagine.

No Justice....except the fall of Communism once and for all in the Western Hemisphere after his death....might not be justice, but just as sweet.

P.S. Your understanding has made me confident to tell my story....I never thought I would tell it. I feared people would never understand...

I know. I think we should have overthrown Castro or paid someone to do it years ago. Or, we should have bought Cuba from Castro years ago and made it a territory like P.R. Although I am unsure whether the Cubans would have liked that, I am sure they would be better off now. I mean I know American healthcare has its problems, but certainly it is better than the Cuban system that harmed your relative.

You have been living on the liberal east coast for too long my friend. There are people out there in middle America who won't vote for Lieberman because he is Jewish just like they won't vote for Carol or Sharpton because they are black. Some people are completely freaked out by anyone but a white man being the president of this country.

Once again it reinforces my belief that we are in hell. That's a whole other thread, though.
Won't his son take over once he dies? I guess if it were me, it would piss me off that my government (US) just does nothing about it. Are they complicit in some way?

I think you neabt a white male WASP, because, if memory serves me correctly, Kennedy was the only Catholic President. And even then, people were questioning whether a "Papist" could give his allegence to two factors. They thought the Pope would control America. Interestingly, in about 1533, i.e. about 400 years ago, people were still making this argument; in fact Henry VIII used, inter alia, it as the reason to form the Church of England of which he was head.

Also, there is the argument that as Jewish President would through the state of Israel into chaos because the Arabs could never consider a Jewish President of the U.S. as neutral (like the R and D Christians are any better ) .

His son will TRY to take over...There have been rumors running around since the 70's that there are plans for the day Castro dies....I guess that means we will go into the island to prevent his Son from taking over. This does make sense....it is a liability to have a communist nation like Cuba only 90 miles from our shore. (Cuban Missle Crisis) Even if we dont go in there, I am sure the government will be overthrown...the only reason you see so many people at his speeches is b/c the people in the surrounding areas are FORCED (You have to check in....if not you are considered anti-revolutionary and are sent to trial....yes folks...for not attending his rallies) to go to these speeches. The people have had it, and you can expect the government to probably fall on the pressure of the people.

Yes I should have clarified WASP. My mother used to tell me about the uproar Kennedy created.

I've always wondered why the US tolerates Castro, especially some of the more hawkish administrations we've had. I think in a certain way Cuba is under our thumb. It bothers me that we've got a third world dictator 90 miles off shore, yet we'll run half way around the world to "liberate" people for whatever reason. It makes me wonder what the US is getting out of it.
