They were not in a good position. it must have been irritating to know the princess held all the power.
That's what I never understood. Why J&C would put themselves through a tour rife with that level of irritation. (I recall how John stonily pulls his hand away from Stevie's in that TV interview, and Chris is clearly clearly mortified while trying not to contradict Stevie and Mick's cockamamie confabulations.) But now I think I understand how the level of irriration they had to deal with over the decades with the S&L dynamic must have been even worse than this by comparison. As inexplicable and disappointing as Lindsey's ouster was to the fans, J&C might have seen the upside in a bad situation -- a less angsty time on the road for one of their final tours.

Obviously there were other considerations as to why J&C were complicit -- legal/scheduling reasons, John's loyalty to Mick, Chris' increased frailty and apparent reduced bargaining position -- but the personal element had always seemed incomprehensible to me.

I think less angst would be a big reason! i heard Chris totally had a blast on that tour because it was a "lighter" atmosphere, which I'm sure john appreciated, too. and while imo his loyalty was more towards "the band" than Mick, he *knew* chris wanted to continue w the tour, so in a way, "caving" to mick ensured that they'd both be able to do that.

She may have been pissed that a decision was made without her. but i certainly don't think she was pissed about continuing with the tour without all the angst lol

It reveals that Chris too walked on eggshells about Stevie. Fleetwood Mac apparently is a business more than a band.
even sadder to imagine that chris *might* have said that to stevie but was ignored. I could see it happening. and how many times had she tried to intervene over the years? and esp after being gone so long, she probably felt weaker in terms of having a big mouth about something. "fragile" as LB said.

I think stevie's best friend in the band by then was Mick... all her BS about being besties with chris is so annoying to me. And I think they all had to walk on eggshells around stevie to a degree to keep 'the business' in operation.
