This might be my favorite one yet. Some great insight and you can see how happy Lindsey is watching the video.

Watching it right now!!!
Was OOTC really his first solo tour? I googled and yes, it mentions he briefly promoted his previous albums. Isn't that weird? I think he lost opportunities by not going on the road. That voice who said to him You are pretty good at these things (who is it?) and he answers For now, check with me next year.. about remembering the album year. Well... his memory was not so pretty good when he commented about the origin of I'm So Afraid. ![]()

I think the experienced humbled Lindsey and may have been a factor in rejoining for The Dance.

I know he always enjoyed that band he put together (truth be told, I think he enjoyed orchestrating everybody’s parts more). But it’s still great to hear all these years later how wonderful it was for him. It was a successful experiment. He was used to just blasting away in Fleetwood Mac, doing all his solos the way he wanted in the moment (which inevitably involved repeating licks because everyone does that). But with this tour, he charted everything out, the way Walter Becker wrote out the horn charts for Rickie Lee Jones on Pirates. So it wasn’t just five guitarists going at it: each guitarist had a specific part to perform at a specific time, the way sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses all sing different parts in a chorale.
Why not do it again, Lindsey?

I never realized that Lindsey’s niece and sister-in-law were in that video until now.

This Lindsey react made me watch the entire DLD clip, and Countdown and Soul Drifter, too. We have commented here that OOTC was not a big success maybe because it was released too late, the music had changed by 1992-93; perhaps it would have been more successful if it had been released years earlier. I don't know if it's me that I'm almost 60 and it's a new century, other times, but I don't see those videos enough cool. Or actually that was a factor that did not favor the album, too. For example Countdown starts off well, but I think the scenes where he walks crouching or crawling... I find it silly, not cool at all. However, his haircut there is really hot. He should have kept it always. ![]()

I don’t know what to conclude when he said “the spectre of Stevie probably disabled several long-term relationships I had”, after Ken said (after he broke up with Carol Ann) “I’ve seen him with several women and it always ended unhappily”. Daah... it’s usual that break ups don’t end happily. Or did Ken avoid using a stronger word than unhappy? Anyway, does it mean that during the mid-80s, when they didn’t socialize or interact that much, he still hadn't gotten over her??? Ok I (like many of you) am tired of that “endless” soap opera but hearing this kind of things doesn't help at all to stop talking about this. ![]() I didn’t see a sad note at the end, though actually it is sad to compare what they said about the 1997 reunion or their mood in 2001, with the 2018 facts. But at that doc moment (this BTM is from 2001) Stevie talks nicely about his children, family. And Lindsey hoping that when they “get older and can really listen to some of the stuff I’ve done” and the lesson they could learn about… etc. kind of prophetic now that we are watching Leelee’s videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kyJjNwAQyM

Apparently Lindsey is a blocker. You may recall Rick Beato did an episode of "What Makes This Song Great" about "Go Your Own Way" and Lindsey made him take it down. Beato said usually the artist will let him keep the video up but not allow him to monetize it. He said the only one who allowed him to keep one up and also monetize it is the estate of Tom Petty. |
