Arrow The time Fleetwood Mac opened for the Eagles

Picture it.........Summer of 1976 at Three Rivers Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA. The Eagles with special guests Fleetwood Mac and Boz Scaggs. I think there were a few of these Stadium tours that summer. The Mac would play Pittsburgh almost 3 times within a year, each time at a larger venue. They played the Stanley Theater in June 1975, then came back to the Civic Arena later that year and returned the following summer at Three Rivers Stadium. According to the articles there were major fiascos at the previous stadium concert in Pittsburgh with throwing bottles and so many injuries. The city stopped alcohol from being brought into the stadium which worked. However the Eagles still had to stop their set to tell people to stop throwing bottles or they would stop the concert. Some really cool photos of the band. I like the one with Stevie with the Pittsburgh Pirates logo in the backdrop.
What a time to be alive and I can't imagine seeing the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac together for $10 with both bands at the peak of their powers. I was only 6 but did anyone attend any of these stadium concerts? This link has some great photos and articles about the show. The Mac was playing everything in 1975 and 1976. They were still going to colleges while the next night playing arenas in 1975. To think these concerts were just about 6 months before they would both release the best albums in rock history: Hotel California and Rumours. Time machine take me away!

I was 15 living south of Pittsburgh. I wanted to go to this show so bad but didn't get too. I love seeing the pictures. 2 years earlier they played at WVU in Morgantown. I would loved to have been at that show, but no way my mom would have taken me or let me go. Such missed opportunities

In 1975 they also played Slippery Rock University. I was not aware of that. I went to IUP and all we got was C+C Music Factory

Very cool Fleetwood Mac pictures. It's obvious that the guy who took those photos was a true Stevie fan. She was already commanding attention back in 1976. That's not a criticism; she performed very well on stage. But so sad there aren't any photos with a closer look at Christine.

And after almost 50 years, this post appeared in my FB.

Which legendary soft rock will win?

Interesting and fun some comments are. They mention America, Steely Dan Bread, and even Soft Cell as soft rock. Some disagree with calling FM & Eagles soft rock bands. Others remind people about Peter Green, etc.

At this moment Eagles got 481 thumbs up, the Mac got 850 hearts.
