I don't know how sad her life is, or if it really is, today. She got what she wanted. Yes she had many years where her life looked pathetic, then she looked happy in the late 90s and early century. Now, with everything I read that she says, one would think she doesn't seem very happy, and definitely I wouldn't long, admire, or envy her life. However she keeps achieving what she wants: successful concerts. Didn't she have babies? Well, many people haven't, and I see them happy. Happiness is not based on a unique standard. Christine didn't have children either, and she seemed happy in her later years, but I'm sure she had years of loneliness and unhappiness as well.

The one who did seem unhappy to me, despite his great music, his success and (supposedly) having children, was Michael Jackson. He was trapped by fame and paranoia. I love him as an artist, but he became a freak, he lost friends, afraid of even his own shadow; his personal life definitely didn't seem happy.

Plus, he was right in the middle of something-or-other. What did she expect him to do, listen to it right then and there? He set it down somewhere in the studio and forgot about it. So she got quite huffy (but kept it to herself until years later, which she often does).

He did say some funny things about Bella Donna. I think in one of the Bay Area Music (BAM) magazine cover articles in 1981, he said that he liked his album (Law and Order) better. Big surprise there.

Stevie was asked about Law and Order in 1981, and she said that it had some beautiful things on it (I think she was referring to “Trouble”) but also said it had some stuff that “wasn’t her.” I would imagine that most of that album “wasn’t her.” Imagine Stevie’s first impression of “Johnny Stew” or “Bwana.”

As I have said a million times, they are two very different animals in terms of their musical proclivities.

One of the reasons Lindsey has done great work with her songs is that he’s probably one of the very few people who have spent a lot of time tinkering with them in the studio. I don’t think that Jimmy Iovine, for example, spent more than a few weeks getting “Edge of Seventeen” into its final form, and most of that effort came from the guys in the band just jamming on the E chord. Her solo albums aren’t orchestrated the way Fleetwood Mac orchestrated music — with painstaking bits of sound dabbed on the “canvas” until the right vibe was created. Lindsey made great tracks out of “Gypsy” and “Gold Dust Woman” because he spent months on the vibe creating all-inclusive little sonic worlds with just the right 6/7.

Incidentally, could 6/7 derive from the old phrase “at sixes and sevens” — in chaos?

Now, we don't know the current state of Lindsey's marriage, (and I'm not married, no kids, nor want either), BUT, I would have to think that his married life was FAR more satisfying than sitting around, surrounded by a bunch of paid girlfriends, telling you that your farts smell like unicorn farts.

I've read she had 4 children, that, well.... how do you say it?.... didn't make it past the county landfill.

Christine...I can't imagine she was ever crazy about children. I admire, and share that trait with her. Team Christine.

Michael Jackson... well, I think he had some serious mental issues. Just because he was super kind doesn't mean he wasn't Wacko Jacko.

Hopefully she is satisfied with the choices she's made. Fame did seem to be her only goal.

Lindsey also called Stevie's solo concert a "lounge act."

I haven't listened to the Go Insane album enough to agree or disagree with this statement, but it is interesting what Google's AI answered when I look for possible Lindsey concept albums. Anyway I'm not sure if what he's describing is related to a concept album definition; besides, in 1984 he hadn't officially left the band yet.

Although Lindsey Buckingham has not released a strictly narrative "concept album", his second solo album, Go Insane (1984), functions almost as such, as it explores intense themes of loss, emotional anguish, and the end of his relationship with Carol Ann Harris following his departure from Fleetwood Mac.

He said “concept band”, not “concept album”. He was talking about the band on the OOTC tour.
