But watching these members with Bob that night made it seem like it was just another moment from that era. Did Lindsey ever explain why he didn't attend?
Maybe he attended the after party. However I can see Lindsey giving a hard pass at such an event. Lindsey just had a big fight with Stevie for bringing her producer to France in which Jimmy left. Stevie just had a #1 solo album while his barely cracked the top 40. I just don't see him wanting to be around this. I wish Stevie and Mick would have been in the intro with Chris introducing Bob.
I agree this was a magical moment. Not only do they look great and sound great but they are having so much fun on stage. Stevie really digging into GDW since she had been practicing it for her opening act. So good. Thank goodness she did not do Dreams or Rhiannon. This rocking version of GDW definitely has a solo feel. Bob and Stevie rekindled their magic from California Jam in 1978. I know Mick has written that he has forgiven Weston but I wonder what it was like in 1981. Notice that Mick is not on stage with Weston. Maybe it means nothing but just a curious take. It probably means nothing but Chris had to practice with Weston and Bob's band for Remember Me. Not having Mick and John gives the song an up-tempo solo feel like when Chris played some vintage Mac songs on her 1984 tour. Chris alludes to some caution with the drummer but in the end says "it was worth the effort." It gives such a spontaneous feel. 1, 2, you know what to do!
