Amazing concert at Market Square Arena in Indy (Venue known for the last live performance by Elvis). Whole band was great, but I became a Lindsey fan for life that night.

Please can somebody set the record straight….this whole ‘Christie McVie’ thing…
…for those a tad older than me- was she commonly referred to as Christie back in the day? Was she Christie or what?

You know what is funny. I do remember people calling her Christie McVie in the early 1980s. The band did not call her that and it was DJ's or media people that used that phrase. I can remember when her 1984 solo album came out and the radio DJ saying, its the latest from Christie McVie. Never heard it again since. It was rare to hear but I did read it or hear it in the early 80s.

I cant imagine Stevie calling Christine Christie so maybe the newspaper guy got it wrong. But we would need a recording of the show to verify. Maybe Stevie was jumping on that early 80s nickname? Or maybe the newspaper guy heard wrong.

IMO, only DULLARDS refer to her as Christie. I cringe every time I read someone call her that.
AFAIK, she NEVER went by that nickname.

Well, this whole article refers to her throughout as frickin Christie. I can only assume the person that wrote this genuinely thought that was her actual name. Even if you’re referring to somebody by a pet name, you’d start off with the real name and break into the alternative. It’s like writing a whole article about Nicksy. Or Linds. Or Micky. Or Johno.

Too bad we cannot find someone that went to the show or there is not a bootleg around that can prove Stevie did not say Christie. I bet she did not since we have never heard her say it before. I love that Stevie dedicated Landslide to Chris. Has she ever done that before? (please do not count today's Stevie's tribute. I am talking about in concert with Chris).

i agree, i cringe, too. she NEVER went by that, it drives me CRAZY to see christie, chrissy, christy....ugh.

I am convinced the reason people think that was her nickname is because whenever the brits referred to her by her full name, they put the emphasis on the first syllable-- the British way!-- they pronounce it CHRIStine. so stupid americans thought they were calling her Christie.

works my nerves to see people who are such "big fans" etc call her this. come on people. and these folks should learn to spell lindsey's name correctly, too lol

That is a REALLY good theory. So much better than mine. Was it because there was a Ste-VIE so there had to be a Chris-TIE because it was so cute-SY.

I've seen/heard her referred to as Chris but that's only been by members of the band or people she was working with.
