The woman from the Cranberries, who sat on a stool during their final tour because of back injuries? Yes, as you said, Stevie’s concert performances today are dramatically low energy compared to 1975. Anyone expecting to see that same level of performance today would be disappointed. However, everyone going to see her now knows she’s almost 80 years old, so they don’t expect her to do a split or twirl during every song.

As for who would “want to watch a doddering old woman who doesn’t even look like she’s having fun anymore,” well apparently there are thousands of people who do. I checked Ticketmaster to see how many tickets were left for her Nov 30 show in Cincinnati- the seating capacity is 17,556 and there were maybe 200 tickets left. Glad you’re not dogging her out LOL although comments like “doddering old lady” seem to suggest otherwise.
Stevie loves the road. She always has. Her parents both lived until very late in life and she will probably too. Even in the video I posted where she seems afraid to walk her smile was authentic and as big as ever. She actually looked like a little girl with her sinister big smile. Yes her shows are still packing them in. The money is just too good not to not be on the road unless you could not do it. Stevie also uses no vocal backing tracks which is really rare for older artists these days. She needs to road to keep her focus and to not feel her age. She supposedly is doing another album? I am sure she will tour again next year to promote it.

Even compared to 2014, last time I saw the Mac. But I guess people who go this year to her concerts must expect a show of someone at 77 years old. And if they like it, good for them. I wouldn't go; in general, not only about Stevie, I wouldn't pay for a show featuring someone whose movements and/or singing are difficult compared to the performance they used to give. But that's me. Of course if it is kind of show like a classical music pianist or violinist, that's another thing. In that case yes, I would go.

Despite what we know about her, what she is, what she's done, it makes me a little sad to see how she walked in that short clip, IMHO it should already be her last tour. But again, that's me.

I'd go see that person in a smaller, more intimate venue. A large arena requires a bigger show, and bigger energy. But, as someone pointed out, plenty of people are shelling out the cash to attend this tour so....I mean, from a business perspective, good on her. She kinda is the only female performer of her age selling seats like she does. That's not a small thing, and to her I think it's a pretty big thing. She likes being a record-setter, and having that kind of relevance, so as long as there are people buying, she'll be selling as long as she can. Honestly what other solo female (this does not therefore include a band like Heart) is out there at almost 80 selling out arenas? Just men. She's proud of this and it's fair bragging rights, so again, good on her, but for those of us who see the difference between the before and after of her career, it's just too hard to watch. But to each their own.

I agree completely and I wouldn’t pay hundreds of dollars to see Stevie live. Or at least not with this setlist, anyway. Like Macfan4life and bombaysaffires have pointed out, she somehow is pulling the crowds in… I don’t understand how, but she is.

I really am curious what other people think about acts like Phil Collins and Ann Wilson, still touring despite being pretty much immobile. When I saw some of the videos of their performances on YouTube, I cringed. But I would never say they should retire, and apparently they’re selling tickets anyway, so the audience must not mind too much. I saw Dolly Parton several years ago and she was fantastic! Now, did she sound fantastic? No, she did a lot of that whispery-type singing instead of trying to hit any high notes, but no one cared. I’m sure if I saw some of her performances on YouTube, I might think she didn’t sound good, but seeing her live, it didn’t matter. I imagine the same thing happens at a concert with any of these older artists- people are happy to see them while they can.

Ann Wilson is a trooper. She had to postpone the current tour due to cancer treatment. In recovery she broke her arm. When she appeared back on the road she was in a wheel chair not from the cancer but from the shoulder or arm fracture. I think performing is part of her rehab. Going on the road for fans gives them a purpose. Heart also is getting some really good tour numbers. There is a cult of Stevie so she will always lure people to shows. Concert ticket prices are so high that the money is so freaking good from even a short tour.

I just watched Gypsy, GDW and Rhiannon from Charlotte last night. She barely dances, she doesn't move much, which is logical given everything we know. But her voice is fine. As I said, I wouldn't be interested on going, but there's no doubt she still commands crowds, and judging by the sound of the audience, they weren't disappointed.

I had no plans to go to the Charlotte show, but for S&G I checked the ticket prices. Someone was selling a front row seat for over $5,000. Someone probably paid it too. I haven't seen her live in over 20 years. TISL was the last tour I saw.

Such a shame she did Angel once and then dropped... was ecstatic when I saw clips on TikTok.

The set is so short and tired now. Just like Stevie! They started autotuning her vocals a few years back as well.

I don't get that and she didn't replace it with another song. There were even articles online about her playing Angel live.

People said she dropped Running Through The Garden on the Say You Will Tour but she was still singing Goodbye Baby, Beautiful Child, Destiny Rules (for a few shows), and Say You Will after opening night in 2003.

Maybe she just didn't like how her solo band played Angel.

That would be the most logical reason, though I wouldn't agree with her. I just watched a short and it wasn't bad, and if I compare Angel with other songs from this tour, it was fine. Of course I'm not comparing it to shows from previous years; it wouldn't make sense to do so anymore.

I disagree. IMHO she is reading the audience and most of the audience does not know the song which probably unnerved her. She did this with I Sing For The Things last year too. She put it in the set once or twice and then never again. They practice all of these songs to death so I don't think its her band. Its her and how she is not getting feedback from the audience. The Mac on its last 2018 tour dropped some of the most epic songs Isn't It Midnight and Hypnotized probably for the same reason.
Having said all this, is she not opening her set with a cover song these days? I think she realizes sticking to the songs her audience wants to sing along with is best. I bet 80% of that arena does not own a copy of Tusk.

Fleetwood Mac also dropped Storms from the 2018 set after 10 shows. But on the 2009 Tour they did Storms over 80 times and in 2013, album tracks Sisters of the Moon & Without You were played over 80 times. In 2015, they dropped Seven Wonders from the set, yet Stevie said it became a huge hit in 2014 because of American Horror Story, but they kept playing Sisters of the Moon in 2015. I don't understand it!

Saw Stevie this evening in Toronto, the show was sold out. Opener was Abby Anderson. Stevie was in lively form, and her vocals were as good as they have been in recent years. She danced after a fashion as she usually does, did a few twirls. The setlist had no surprises except the inclusion of The Lighthouse. Talked to people nearby, various age groups, some had come from far away. The crowd was on its feet and sang along throughout. Good fun.

Glad you enjoyed! She also included the addition of her cover of Not Fade Away. How was your seat?
With her introduction or post-song comments re The Lighthouse, did she share her thoughts about the U.S.A. at this moment?
