New book about Rumours

I hadn't heard about this upcoming book til I read it in the recent Rolling Stone review of Buckingham Nicks.

Mmm.. I wonder if there will be something new within the incredible soap opera behind the album’s creation, beyond all stories already mentioned in member's interviews and books like Ken's or Mick's, who actually were there.

One of the Amazon editorial reviews says Combining vivid anecdotes and perceptive analysis, Light delivers both an unapologetic love letter to the album and a nuanced consideration of how music evolves along with its audience. Fleetwood Mac fans old and new will be enchanted. More interesting could be the analysis about why/how is that unique ability to remain relevant in today’s rapidly changing music scene. Though I'm not sure about the world "relevant", instead I would say it is definitely iconic no matter how much time has passed. But analysis like that, I've read in several magazine articles. I don't know if it's worth buying a book for that.

i end up buying any book that comes out about them!! i can't not buy it, FM stuff remains my only vice lol.

Meh. When Christine died, all that's left is STUPID drama.

Some woman yesterday told me, "they're getting back together..." I'm like, "WHO?" "Stevie, Lindsey and Mick". I said, "that's not FM! Christine's dead, and John sold all of his basses. It's NOT FM without a McVie!"

Then she told me that her daughter was named Stevie... I hate people now...

It’s for high blood pressure, so a shot of whiskey will have the same effect.
Here in the UK, summer is back….so a white wine for me.

The only book about Rumours I would ever be interested in reading would be one written by Christine. She's the ONLY one of the 5 to make a point to say that there was a lot of good times and they did get along quite well, quite often.

I think the drama of Rumours was a runaway train that became more and more inflated over time. Were there some infamous moments and fights? absolutely. Do I think it's been grossly over exaggerated over time? absolutely.

Well I’d certainly be all up for autobiogs by Lindsey or John. Can’t see one ever happening from John, but I’m quite surprised Lindsey’s never put anything out. Guess he’s still hanging on the idea of a reunion. When he gets it that thats not happening I think he might just tell all.

All the members were breaking up from their relationships which made recording the album difficult

Silver Springs was dropped because it was too long and I Don't Wanna Know took its spot

Stevie was not happy about the "shacking up" line in Go Your Own Way

Stevie was fighting a cold when she recorded Dreams

Don't Stop was about John

The crystal ball in the cover is the same as the one on previous album.
They went to Sausalito to record the album.
A Los Angeles radio dj said "I don't know about that one" about GWOW, that made Lindsey add the acoustic guitar.
Songbird was recorded at Zellerbach Auditorium.
The iconic members of Fleetwood Mac who created the Rumours album were Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bass), Christine McVie (keyboards, vocals), Stevie Nicks (vocals), and Lindsey Buckingham (guitar, vocals).

i would kill for one from lindsey or john. i think john would have such an interesting perspective on a lot of stuff. and his daughter is all grown up now so hey...let the stories rip! lol I wish. he'd probably say he doesn't remember enough to write a book. still wish he'd at least do a photography thing like he teased in his Q&A years ago. imagine all the unseen pictures those 5 people have sitting in boxes somewhere....argh it makes me weep.

Being the de facto leader during recording sessions, Lindsey's book would be interesting, but it would generate controversy, so it would be a fun book. Of course, now it doesn't matter if the remaining members would get angry about it. And I don't know how accurate it would be. How closely would it match Ken's book? Would Richard contradict some episodes?

If I had to choose, I'd like John's book. I think his point of view would be more objective, as long as he remembers the important events well.

By the way, that the cover has the same photo as Carol Ann Harris book is my first disappointment.

John was asleep half the time. So his book would be quick.
