My memories of The Ledge in 1997 are that everybody was happy here. Yes me too had to pinch myself that I was seeing Fleetwood Mac together again. I remember it was a Sunday morning (I had a hangover I confess) I turned on the TV and saw a preview of Silver Springs and confirmed the rumour I read in The Ledge was true). Then I watched the whole concert. The reviews of the show, the performance were mostly positive here, probably because of the excitement everybody wanted to see just the good things. Ledgies shared their happiness. It was common to read posts finishing with Isn’t that weird? Followed by you know what.

Sure there were some immediate critics, but I can’t remember. Except one. Some ledgies were disappointed with Rhiannon, due to the lack of energy she used to put into her performance in the past. I thought Well, she is 48 now, she can’t sing it the way she did in the late 70s. Or if she can, she is taking care of her voice. Good decision, I thought.

Then the CD was released. My first complain was it wasn’t complete. I had to buy the CD singles to complete the setlist. But of course it wasn’t the same. And I was one of the upset ledgies that complained about the songs starting after the spoken intros. Bleed to, My Little Demon, Everywhere, Sweet Girl, etc. All those intros were at the end of the previous song. Well, that’s a problem with many concert CDs, not only with Mac’s.

Then I got the DVD. Where the hell is Christine counting previous to Silver Springs in the 5.1 side? Forget it. Play the PCM Stereo if you want to listen it. Absurd.

It was my first opportunity to see them live. Nov 97 at MSG. Thanksgiving. For me it was perfect. But since it was my first time, I can't fairly compare the experience to previous tours.

I think that the main events that overshadowed The Dance came later. Christine farewell, the lack of new material until 2003, and all the story we already know. I said Ok, The Dance was a celebration about they being together, singing the hits we all want to hear. And now what? Mmm… the chirping of the cricket.

Anyway The Dance will always be one of the reasons 1997 was a great year for me.

I remember the first time i heard Silver Springs on the radio I thought it was Leanne Rimes. Remember they didn't have screens on cars then and unless the DJ told you who that just was you just had to guess. I remember thinking to myself "wow, Leanne sure aged poorly in the last year!" Then about a month or two later I bought the Fleewood Mac greatest hits and became a Fan, soon after that I got The Dance and by Fall of that year I was totally a Ledgie.

and yeah I forgot about He Who Shall Not Be Named and the Black Ledge. (fun fact, the various BBS systems had color codes. Stevie was Pink, LB was Blue and I forgot the Main one color, but the Black Ledge used the same Perl BBS system (was it Perl?) and the Black Ledge was created on another service and the He Who Shall Not Be Named crowd went there to talk about everyone else behind their back. Someone shared the link and EVERYONE FINDS OUT. Eww. He was a pill. That was my first exposure to Cyberbullying as a 17 year old kid. What Adult makes fun of people for being overweight online, in 1997? Im not talking LIZZO here. I am talking another fan that is just here trying to have friends and talk about Fleetwood Mac. I don't think the term had been invented yet, but there were a few other younger Ledgies that were also victims of insults and impersonations, him and his "Groupies". I stuck around till early 2000s and now only periodically check in when there is something new the band is offering.

Go Insane (live) was one of my favorite parts of the show.

Still wish Big Love was done as a band, however.

Oh god, The Dance? I rarely watch it, because I can't stand all the overdubs. But when I do, I watch it from the comfort of my electric assist lift Lazy Boy.
