"Never Make Me Cry" cover

In the 2015 liner notes for the Tusk deluxe remaster, Lindsey expressed his opinion that "Never Make Me Cry" "would have worked too with more of a beat". As such, I decided to cover the song to see this idea to fruition. I kept the first verse atmospheric and sparse, keeping it relatively faithful to the original. The second first features a gentle percussion groove consisting of a shaker, castanets, triangle, and djembe. Given that this is a Tusk song, I also recorded some Kleenex box hits for good measure.

I'm glad you think so. One of my goals was to incorporate several Fleetwood Mac references into this track, and I think that I succeeded. The most obvious example is the interpolation of the guitar harmonics found on "Silver Springs", which were recreated through an electric guitar and some programmed crotales. I also borrowed the maraca pattern from "That's All For Everyone" for good measure.

It just reminded me that its probably Chris's most empathetic songs IMHO. It really makes you understand what Lindsey meant about adding those percussion elements to the second verse. Is it just me or is this Chris singing at her most vulnerable.
Its so damn sincere and heartfelt that even a remake makes you cry
