I think the owner did post once, but not again.

When Christine died, Marty and I (and Lis) all checked in here. Marty and I did talk about another board then. I tried to contact the new owner with the email address I had from 2017, because we wanted to see about changing things, but we never got an answer.

I think the owner is connected with car racing.

I'm just curious if he actually makes a profit from the ad sales, or if it even makes enough revenue to pay the site costs(I'd guess yes).

I was going to ask if any ledgie followed the "Make the Ads Go Away! Click here.", I supposed it was kind of a $ subscription, but the link answers "Invalid FAQ Item specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator".

So the ads must be the only revenue source.

Wow, for at least the past year, I haven't been able to access the Ledge with anything other than my phone. Computer would always tell me there was a security certificate issue, and deny access. It's finally working again, so I'd guess that something's been updated here.

That is pretty weird. That message stopped few days after we commented about it. And back then I checked the icon in the top left and saw the certficate was working again (Chrome @Windows 10).

I'm Chrome W10 as well. I'm just happy to be able to type on a real keyboard! I'll use longer expletives now!

It does sadly feel that the Ledge is on its way out. I shall miss it if it finally does go to the great Way Back Machine in the sky; at least it outlived the band itself (twice if you count the 1996 interregnum). I think I can recall that it was one of the first sites I went to when the internet really became much of a thing in the 90s. I can recall a fairly desultory and unenthusiastic discussion about the new Fleetwood Mac album that apparently dares not speak its name in 1995 and trying to work out all the abbreviations that the more die-hard members used. I felt rather in awe of Ledge royalty like ChiliD and Wetcamelfood and I didn't join for many years (I only had a hotmail account, and that wasn't allowed at the time). I'm happy to have been a bit peripheral, not really getting involved in the big fights, more interested in exploring perhaps more obscure facets of the band. We're all getting a bit older, too.

Well crap, I jinxed it. Computer is back to refusing to access the Ledge. Phone only.
I'll keep my mouth shut next time(yeah, right).

argh i'm gonna cry... you guys have no idea how thrilling it was for me back in the early days, to find other people who loved this band...who had been to shows and had all the albums and who *knew* stuff , all kinds of cool facts, about these people and their music. it was an amazing surprise. i'll miss it all if this vanishes one day...

Thank you, Lis, and for all your and Marty's work back in the day particularly in building the site up and making it into an invaluable resource. It was a guilty, but nourishing pleasure when the Mac was going though one of its periodic uncool and underappreciated periods. I see the ubiquity of the Silver Springs memes these days and I chuckle at how that all came to be.

I agree. Thank you Lis, for creating what really should've been the official FM site(because it's that good). Your work is much appreciated.

Thank you so much. it all feels kind of like a thousand years ago that we started this site but in certain moments it feels like last week. very glad it's all still here...and still a great resource. thanks to all who make that happen.

Thanks very much. sometimes i wonder if marty hadn't put the price so high, if mick would have gone for it lol. but i'm always very proud to see us credited in books w the Q&As, to see people still sharing info at the ledge etc. it gives me a thrill in my old age haha

Obviously, the internet is nothing like it was 25-30 years ago, but the Ledge was THE PLACE for all the FM information, as it still is.
And let's face the truth... it would have failed 20 years ago, if Mick was in charge of it. No truer words have ever been written.

I couldn’t have said it better. Thank you Lis.

It will be sad to lose the last vestiges of the “old web” that connected us.
A weird and quirky bunch us - but we truly were the diehard fans from beginning to end.
