I remember when there used to be chat rooms on this board.
I remember the bulletin board systems too. The first fan site I visited was the NicksFix. That place became very popular during 1997 and The Dance. Fans could post reviews and there was so much data and information on the site.

Anyone remember Emerald Eyes, the Christine tribute site? What was the site that made a fuss over Christine's green cup next to her on the Dance tour. Was it called the Green Cup?

I remember when the NicksFix got chat around 2001. They had to ban the word Stevie because people were thinking it was really Stevie in the chat. Once I had this conversation that was just really odd. I finally asked, how old are you and the person responded 10. I hung up and never went back to the chat there. Even though our conversation was just fanned based, adults and children should not be chatting together. I kept thinking this person is an idiot. At 10 they dont know much about stuff.

I lurked here forever before joining. Michelle I remember you giving me that third degree before signing up. You told me you were getting lots of spam and wanted to know if I was real. I think you gave me some sort of quiz before you approved my membership

LOL. There was a lot of spam. There still is. I mean they get on and start posting porn. And captcha is not enough to keep them out.

What you said about the 10yo reminds me of Seinfeld. Elaine was talking to a teen about movies and she did not realize it was a kid.

I remember the Nicksfix too, it changed the url to rockalittle.com years ago. It still out there.

I remember the "Ask Stevie" section, where you can fill a form with a question for her. Many anwsers were very very laconic, it was obvious she didn't enjoy it. But few answers were interesting. Somebody asked about recording SYW without Christine. She said "It was not as much fun. It was strange and unfamiliar working without Christine. We missed her."

At this time, I have control of the Ledge bulletin management. However, I have no control of the server. No access to that.

Also, I should say I did not sell it to the first person who came along. I waited and tried to find a fan. At that time wetcamelfood was still alive and he had put so much work in the discography. I had also added a decade of news to the second hand news and blue letter archive sections. I wanted that all preserved, but months passed and there were no buyers. So, I auctioned it.
Thank you for keeping this place Michele. Is the owner of The Ledge a member? Or did the owner sadly pass away?

If you'd read the comments above, Michele TRIED to find a fan to buy it, but alas, couldn't. I think that whoever bought it, did so just for selling all the ads we deal with now.

Nearly every day of my life, I wonder, "has anyone EVER purchased ANYTHING from the ads here?" Please speak up if you have.

Yes I believe that was it. Good memory!!!! It was a tribute site to Chris. But back in those days it was fairly basic. It was called that because you clicked to enter and there was a picture of Chris on the Dance tour with a fluorescent green cup behind her on keyboards. I can't recall if there was anything for fans to do on the site. It was more of a tribute site if my memory is correct.
Long nets of white cloud my memory.

No, not directly. Ads are generated from latest search I do when I'm looking for something to buy. When the ad appears here, I've already purchased. Or they are ads from websites that I never use to buy. For example if I look for a flight ticket, I usually buy directly from the airline website. But later it appears here ads (for the same destination) from travel agencies.

Someone can be a Ledge member and not a fan if they bought the site. Members don’t have to post.
I guess the owner is someone who doesn’t even look at this site and maybe hasn’t since they bought it.

And I believe that's WHY Michele retained being the overseer, as THE mod. So at least it would still have its direction.

That's why when friends ask me to look up something stupid on my phone, I usually won't, because I'll end up seeing ads for it, for weeks.

I won’t even begin to describe the ads I get.
Best not to

LOL. It’s like how many people actually pick up a date by screaming “Hey, baby!” repeatedly out of the window.
