You realize what a fish out of water Mick and Stevie were for Tango? Stevie had just come off of a 2 year studio party for RAL. The Mac had huge indulgences for Rumours and Tusk. Lindsey said he had to fake going to the restroom just to escape the studio. Mirage was sort of a haunted mansion where they could escape to the French countryside and ride horses and then come back to the chateau to party, swim and eat.
For Tango there was no studio. Just a small set up in Lindsey's room. Mick was completely a fish out of water. Even Stevie his cocaine girlfriend was not there to partake in the excesses. No wonder he had to get to Malibu each night to party like crazy.

And we were certainly doing our fair share of the old powder. There was one coke dealer who kept us supplied with high-grade Peruvian flake, and we were so grateful to him that I considered (in my state of dementia) giving him some kind of credit on the album jacket. Unfortunately he got snuffed executed! before the thing came out.

It seems he had some regrets of writing several episodes in his first book, or so I read. I guess for the second book he was more discret.
Yes, Mick is not ashamed of that. If they were being sensitive to his feelings then they might not talk about his money problems, but I don't think any of them thought about insulting him when they discuss drug use.
