I don’t know if Mick was wasting studio time going somewhere to buy drugs and Lindsey thought it would be more time efficient or safer somehow to keep the dealer close by or what. And who knows, maybe the story is only partly true. |

That is my recollection as well. Could also have been that Mick had no other place to,stay.

In Lindsey's defense, Mick looks like he could really stink up a bathroom. I'd put him in the RV, too!

who's the Mick Fleetwood book fanatic? What does Mick say about the rv in his book?
![]() you can believe whatever the voices in your head tell you to believe, but the reality is Mick was a fecking mess around that time and Lindsey put the RV in the driveway so he and whoever else were hanging out partying would be contained out there and not in his house. ![]()

Mick discusses the trailer in his second book Play On. It was not Lindsey's trailer. John Courage brought the trailer. The studio was in Lindsey's house and it was brought not to disrupt his home life. In previous albums Mick and Lindsey would hang out in the studio all day and night. Mick discusses how Lindsey became all business. Mick stated that his life got weird because the days were boring which is uncommon for a rock star. He would jet to his place in Malibu at night to party with Robin Williams and Nick Nolte. That is where the indulgent Mick spent his nights. Lindsey would have never have brought a trailer to his property to encourage or engage in indulgence. Lindsey's home studio was really small and no place to hang out.

Obviously, they HAD to make Tango at Lindsey’s house because there aren’t any recording studios in Los Angeles.

Here is what Mick wrote in the first book. I couldn't find anything when did the search for "RV" but I think this is the episode, after did the search for "trailer".
It took us eighteen months, working under completely different conditions from what we were used to. We had started out at Rumbo Sound in the Valley, where the basic tracks were cut. We then moved production to the studio Lindsey built in the garage of his house, called the Slope, where we would mix and do the overdubs. It wasn't really a proper studio per se; everything was recorded right in the control room. The acoustics were the wooden floor, the bathroom, the carpet, the hallway. To minimize wear and tear to the property, John Courage brought in a trailer with phones and a TV and a place to hang out. This arrangement changed everything. We began to work regular hours. We were all sick of cocaine and had given it up, so it was all very organized, and we got into a nice routine with few delirious moments as of yore, and almost no all-night Transcending wot I was used to. (Actually there was a little splurge of villainy early on; "Tango in the Night" was the result of a two-piece drunken Transcension between Lindsey and me. We used the drum track as the basis for the song.) That's it. Yes he said it was for hanging out, though no dealer mentioned, at least in the first book and in this episode (there is a delaer mentioned during Rumours days). It is also interesting he wrote WE were all sick of cocaine and had given it up". Was he already sober during Tango sessions? I thought he was in the 90s, but I may be wrong.

Here's the perspective from Richard and Greg Droman:
https://www.salon.com/2017/04/02/he-...-in-the-night/ I think Mick was hitting the sauce more than anything at that time, not really the drugs. Or he was telling the rest of the band he wasn't doing coke and then going out to his trailer to indulge. That shoe would fit as well. This distance wasn’t due to illicit substances, Dashut stresses. “Not many drugs — and by that time, the cocaine had pretty much gone, very little of that,” he recalls. “Plenty of marijuana, I’m sure, which we always in use as an artistic tool. By then, thankfully the cocaine age had left for us.” However, the band members’ private personal stresses manifested in other ways. For example, the band did overdubs on the record at Lindsey Buckingham’s house. So as not to “invade his personal space and take over the inside of his house,” Dashut says the group came up with an ingenious solution. “They rented a huge RV, like a dressing room-slash-lounge, and they would hang out out in the driveway,” he says. “And then they would come in and do their parts. It was kind of strange. It’s not like everyone was hanging out together. They would take their turns doing their parts on the record. There wasn’t as much togetherness, cohesiveness.”

No, he wasn’t being honest about that. He was still a heavy user.

If Lindsey spent round‑the‑clock hours in the studio, the total cost of renting a studio would likely have escalated to an exorbitant amount—not to mention the lost time that probably occurred due to drinking etc.

Stevie hated going to his house to record. I think Chris said she was the only member that actually enjoyed recording Tango.

Just a thought — no one in the band is ever going to come out and directly admit they put an RV in the driveway so Mick could drink or use drugs. Over the years, it seems like the band members have made a conscious effort to give Mick some grace whenever topics like this come up.

And the atmosphere kept getting nuttier. It was like a cocktail party all the time. The studio was full of weirdos we'd never seen before, partying with each other while we tried to work. And we were certainly doing our fair share of the old powder. There was one coke dealer who kept us supplied with high-grade Peruvian flake, and we were so grateful to him that I considered (in my state of dementia) giving him some kind of credit on the album jacket. Unfortunately he got snuffed executed! before the thing came out. It seems he had some regrets of writing several episodes in his first book, or so I read. I guess for the second book he was more discret.
