I'd say that CGB is my second favorite song on Mirage, behind Hold Me. Pop perfection.

To my understanding, "Steal Your Heart Away" was distributed to radio stations as a promotional single exclusively for airplay and not for retail. An early version of the song was also released on a Best Buy compilation CD around the time of The Dance (it was one of several songs Buckingham had worked on at Ocean Way Studios in the mid 90s).

So it was a Lindsey's version, wasn't it? Not a Fleetwood Mac recording.

I never really liked this song. It's just kind of .... boring.

It's a different mix from the Say You Will version that lacks Stevie's vocals and has slightly altered instrumentation (some of the hand drums are more prominent on the Best Buy version).

I love Beatles Twist and Shout. I read Lennon had a cold at the time, so he drank milk and ate candy to soothe his throat. The effects of the cough on his voice can be heard on the recording. I think I heard he injured his vocal cords while singing, but I don't know if that's true.
That version of Twist and Shout was done in one take. Lennon’s voice was f**ked as it was at the end of an epic recording session for Please Please Me. I think they did try a second take but they didn’t finish it and stuck with the first one. He may have also had a cold. Don’t know.

Talking about singles, I didn't know Seven Wonders debuted on june 20. They had to wait one day to do it.

This week in 1987, the Fleetwood Mac song “Seven Wonders” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at #52 (June 20)

The song was written by sometime Stevie Nicks collaborator Sandy Stewart, who recorded and submitted a demo to Nicks without a lyric sheet.
Nicks misheard one of the lines in the first verse as "all the way down to Emmaline", and because the lyrics weren’t written down, she just altered, improvised a bit, and sang her version of what she heard. This gave her a co-writing credit, alongside Stewart.

Nicks later said, "I had become so attached to the name Emmaline that we kept it in and she gave me a small percentage."

The 1987 release from the “Tango in the Night” LP peaked at #17 in Canada, #19 in the US, #23 in Australia, and #28 in Ireland and the Netherlands.
In 2014, "The Seven Wonders", the season finale of “American Horror Story: Coven”, opened with Nicks performing the song, exposing it to a new generation of fans, and helping it to #18 on the Billboard Rock Digital Songs chart.

The Cover version ruined the song for me.

Wow- the song debuted at #52, but only peaked at #19!?! That’s very interesting. Talk about a short shelf life.

"Big Love" happened to debut at the exact same chart position, but that single peaked at number five. On the current Hot 100, it's not incredibly uncommon to debut within the top ten, whereas in the past, number 52 was a very high debut and would often indicate considerable chart success. I find it very curious that "Seven Wonders" heavily underperformed on the charts, not just in the US, but even more so than the UK. Even "Family Man" charted higher than "Seven Wonders" in the UK.

Everywhere peaked at #14, Little Lies at #4. And I like Everywhere more than LL. Charts apart, my perception is that Christine Tango songs were more popular than Lindsey's and Stevie's. At least in my local radios.

Was You and I part ONE popular in the US? I think it was side B of the Big Love single, wasn't it? I remember it was played on radios here in Peru, enough played to miss it when I bought the album.

I've never heard You and I (part1) on the radio.

With the exception of when Joe Benson played the entire album out here in Los Angeles on KLOS (7th day).

Speaking of, has anyone ever heard Sandy Stewart’s demo of Seven Wonders? I’d be super interested in hearing it.
