Poll: Favorite title track

Looking through some threads, I noticed that there was a favorite title track post on the Stevie Nicks forum (http://www.ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/sh...ad.php?t=53859), but it does not appear that an equivalent exists for Fleetwood Mac songs. Vote and discuss!

Not included in the poll is the Mystery to Me jam played live during the Bob Welch era and "These Strange Times" from Time. If you would really like to vote for these options, I have included an "other" option.

Wow this is tough. My top 3 on the list are Future Games, Heroes are hard to find, and Tango In The Night.

Winner: Heroes Are Hard To Find
I like the upbeat bluesy jazz feeling of it. It sets a good tone for an album.

Future Games and Tango In The Night are both also excellent. Each is different but both have a layer of mystery that I love. Future Games is dreamy. Lindsey's guitar ending is really good and should have played out for another 30 seconds. As soon as he gets cooking it fades. Each are stellar.

I shall announce the results in reverse order, as Eric Morley used to say on Miss World.

Say you will is the bottom of this barrel, a tiny bit trite and lazy and an illustration of the fact that Stevie attempting to be Christine was never going to quite work. Poor Stevie: another poll where she will flounder. They were never going to call the 1975 album Rhiannon, I suppose, or substitute Gypsy for Mirage.

Tango in the Night does set an atmosphere for the rest of the album. It wouldn't quite have worked as its opening track, though as a scene-setter. A couple of points off, though for it drifting into I'm so afraid.

Heroes are hard to find: prophetically somewhat innacurate, as a couple of them were randomly stumbled across three months after the album's release. Chipper, fun and optimistic as Christine could often be, but not really a contender for the top spot.

Behind the Mask offers much more than the rest of the album it titled. A return to the moody and mysterious Christine of HAHTF's Bad Loser as others have noted. It would easily win if we were comparing title tracks to the standard of the others on the album, which we're not.

Tusk is perhaps the craziest track Fleetwood Mac ever recorded but weirdly, I reckon even more could have been done with it- the 3 minutes 19 seconds is over too quickly. Lindsey could have unleashed a few more demons with another minute or so. I've known non-75-87 Mac fans rave over this song so it's got to be in contention.

Bare Trees has been a real grower over the years. Danny's guitar work is amazing; John is also superb on this one. His angsty Englishness was a counterweight to Bob Welch's more languid approach- speaking of which:

Future Games is my winner. Another one that reveals itself slowly through repeated listens as hidden depths emerge. A laid-back folky-bluesy symphonic sundowner of a track to enjoy with a whiskey mac or something a bit stronger.

Bare Trees. Bob’s funky rhythm guitar and John’s bass are incredible. It’s a lively, dynamic masterpiece.

This thread actually made me listen to Future Games last night. I had not played it for awhile. I was actually moved. I can perfectly lip sync every Mac or solo song but this one would give me trouble. Its so trippy but I love it and it has some very iconic lines that could be motivational bumper stickers.

Can anyone perfectly lip sync the chorus? I am honest and I would stumble.

Gosh, Tusk and SYW are my least fav. I don't ever have to hear the song Tusk again. Especially live.

Heroes was my choice. I wanted Tango, too. But, Christine got the tie breaker. BTM is a great tune as well.

We are like twins on this one. I always feel guilty about not liking Tusk. I like it in concert but the album track never did anything for me even at my peak worship time. You never ever hear it even on 70s radio. When they say its a lost hit, that is no joke. The rest of Tusk is fine but its my second least favorite Tusk track. People make fun of Stevie because she cant lip sync or never knows when to come in on a song. That is me on Tusk. I am worse than Stevie. I've heard it a million times album track and in concert yet I can never come on in on the TUSK parts. I get fooled every time. Stevie is better than me

I'm asking and not judging. But, do you actually get more of a rise listening to Tusk than Tango (title track)?

The guitar solo at the end of Tango makes me feel powerful for 20 seconds or so. Tusk makes me feel cheated because it's always felt a bit incomplete to me.

Oh definitely yes. Why? I don't know. It's just a matter of feelings. But also it's true that if there was a live version of the Tango song (specially from 1987), I would go crazy listening to it, much more than any studio, alternative or live version of Tusk song. That happens with the I'm So Afraid live versions. I adore them more than any Tusk version.

I don't find any logic on why I like one song more than another. That's why the "best song" polls kind of make no sense to me. I mean, I enjoy to answer those polls, but I actually choose my favorite song, not the best one. There's a big difference.

Tough one between Future Games, Heroes Are Hard to Find and Tango in the Night. Went with Future Games though in the end, just due to its epic-ness.
Genuinely surprised Tusk has the most votes. What’s wrong with you people? Each to their own I guess. Tusk is okay, but it’s not a great song. The other three really are stellar. I’d put Bare Trees Third.

Tusk felt slightly underwhelming live, somehow. I suppose I would have liked to have seen it done on the rare occasions it was performed with the marching band, as the piped-in brass section is not much of a substitute; once it gets to a certain level, it just keeps going over and over again with little variety. Mick also changed the rhythm and stress of his drumming pattern from the recording as well to one which seems much simpler, which I never quite understood. Looking at videos of the 2014/15 tour I have my suspicions that Christine's accordion was just a prop and that bits of Lindsey's guitar (particularly the flourish at the end) was also, how shall I put it, not what it might seem.
