I’ve never seen an actual accounting that Mick and Rick fell out in 2016 over Rick’s political leanings, but even assuming that’s true, it might be less about Rick’s actual views and more about how he was publicly expressing them. In any case, Mick has worked with Rick at least twice since 2016, including a remake of “These Strange Times” with Bekka, who is fairly active in Nashville’s Democratic Party.

Regardless, I doubt Mick gave two thoughts about Gavin DeGraw performing at Trump’s inauguration. I mean, John McVie performed at Clinton’s inauguration and he didn’t vote for Clinton. For that matter, John and coexisted for over two and a half years in Fleetwood Mac with Bekka and the only reason it ended was because of money.

You place way more stock in politics and cliques than these people do. It was a charity event. They were more concerned about raising money for people of all political persuasions. What? Did you think they were only raising money for Harris voters who lost their homes?

Rick said in a Peter Green tribute video that he and Mick had a falling out in 2016, and that they reconciled because Mick needed Rick for the PG Tribute. If Lindsey performed at Trump's inauguration or tweeted like Rick did about Black Lives Matter, I think you'd be speaking differently.

THAT was the crux of the fallout. It wasn’t about Rick’s political views, it was the way he chose to publicly express those views. Fleetwood Mac was still together and still in the planning stages of another world tour. Rick’s tweets could have become an unnecessary distraction that had the potential to be bad for business for the mothership.

Not really. Mick was like a brother to a guy who dressed up like a Nazi and a woman who dressed in blackface as Mammy for Halloween.

Lindsey Buckingham was a key member of Fleetwood Mac. They’ve known each other for fifty years and have probably sold close to 100 million albums. Lindsey is in a completely different category in Mick’s life than Rick.

Ultimately, a gig is a gig and shouldn’t be construed as an endorsement. John McVie wasn’t endorsing Clinton when they played the inauguration AND John very diplomatically let it be known he’s a Republican.

I know this is a hypothetical statement, but to be clear: one of the many reasons I respect Lindsey is because of his character and his integrity. He most certainly wouldn’t perform for Trump or make anti-BLM statements on social media.

I don’t think Mick was concerned about Rick Vito’s comments about BLM, whatever they were, because of how they might affect the FM “mothership.” No FM fan was going to miss a tour because a former member made politically charged comments.

Even though I cringe when I see that photo you referenced, it’s because of how we’ve progressed. At that time, I certainly don’t think John was a fan of Hitler, or that Christine was racist. Just because Mick had no problems with their Halloween costumes 40 years ago doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be swayed by views today.
