But when I google best pop bands, it shows Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Queen, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Police, ELO, Coldplay, Van Halen, Jackson 5, well the list is endless.

So I think the definition shown on Reddit is more accurate: Both are huge umbrella terms.

In 1977 Fleetwood Mac was definitely considered a rock band. Yes they had pop commercial success but they were on all the rock stations as were The Eagles, Journey, etc.
Tusk sort of muddied the waters with the band retreating from rock and some would say even pop. Tusk is folksy and has a little edge to it. Mirage and Tango are full mainstream pop. Classic rock stations mostly play only the White album and Rumours. Many music critics will say the Mac abandoned their rock roots for mainstream pop post Rumours or Tusk. However they maintained their rock chops for live shows.
Long story short, I think its fair to consider Rumours a rock album especially for 1977 when Disco ruled the charts. In early 1977 when Rumours knocked Hotel California from the top spot was the peak of greatness of the 1970s. It was right before Saturday Night Fever was released.
