While I have no doubt she was thrilled for John and Julie, I’m sure it wasn’t entirely easy seeing John become a father during that time. John becoming a dad and Cyril dying within a year and a half all while the band was starting to commercially falter had to have her evaluating everything.

Stevie had a rough period in the 80s when she did not appreciate the music she put out either. We never or rarely hear a song from RAL or OSOTM in her sets. I think looking back on the 1990s brought back bad memories.
Stevie was overexposed when she was starting to fail. Tango songs sucked, the Greatest Hits album doomed the creative future of the band and was unnecessary four years before they were going to do a boxed set, and the concert videos were unforgivable. Doing TOSOTM before BTM was also a terrible mistake.

After the Tango tour, a new Fleetwood Mac album should have been the only focus for any of them, but especially Stevie. If she had put her best songs on BTM instead of doing TOSOTM, she would have appeared in much better shape than she actually was. BTM would also have greatly benefited by putting better Billy and Rick songs on the album and a different producer. In other words, they needed to have one solid album after the TITN tour instead of a bunch of ill advised, half-assed projects.
