Default Skies the Limit/Recorded BTM Show

I was going down a Red Rocks rabbit hole this week and came across the Skies the Limit video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTkQ5lG4Sv8

Based on my research, it appears this was filmed over two nights, in June 1990. Although, if you watch, you will notice that the video contains moments from other songs -- for example, the video includes the moment at the very beginning of the show where the masks come up and back, revealing the band behind them, playing (partially) "In the Back of My Mind," which leads into The Chain.

Based on that, and other moments, like the backstage footage, etc., it looks like they must have filmed the whole show! I wondered if anyone had any further information on this, since people on this board were likely in attendance.

I don’t have any tidbits about the missing footage, but I saw the June 1, 2, and 3 concerts in Northern California, and I remember that “Say You Love Me” was the opening song (followed by “The Chain”).

Wikipedia doesn’t display the set list from those June days. In June, they also played “When the Sun Goes Down” with Christine on accordion. There used to be an audience-shot video of the Las Vegas concert on June 10, which would help verify the June set lists.

Someone once posted here that they were at that Red Rocks show, and he said the entire concert was filmed, and after the concert the audience was invited to stay for the filming of the Skies the Limit video. He said the band performed the song a couple of times.

I would LOVE to see the concert released, as part of a Deluxe Edition BTM. Maybe after everything else by FM has been squeezed dry, the label will consider it. Good eye catching the clip of ITBOMM!

We'll get Rumours re-released 20 more times including in hologram before we get Deluxe BTM probably...

I’ve never seen a bootleg of their 1990 shows that didn’t open with “In The Back of My Mind” segued into “The Chain”, which was the opener when I saw them on June 26.

SYLM was the opener for the 1987 tour.

Unless that banner they were hiding behind didn’t come until later in the month.

It may not have been their intent to release the full show just because it was filmed. The video is fun because it has clips from the entire tour. You see them on the tour plane, back stage, and in various other songs. We even see Stevie in her Stand Back cape. All the footage was selected and edited in. The album was not successful and did not chart hit singles so I doubt releasing a full concert would have sold many copies.
But who knows maybe this filming was scheduled when the tour was announced thinking they had a hit album on their hands. I always liked the song and video and its a shame the video never really was shown. It was shown a few times on Vh1 but never MTV which played the hell out of Save Me.
When bands are on tour and in need of a video a live stage video always does the trick. Its inexpensive too.

Yeah, SYLM was not performed until the tour resumed when Chris came back and Chris dropped Save Me for SYLM in a few shows. I think she was being nostalgic for a farewell tour.
But who knows in early shows because we've heard that When The Sun Goes Down was played a few times with Chris on accordion.

They definitely got the Skies the limit video done in time because just weeks later everything came to a halt for months.

I think there will be more Rumours releases in the future. It is their gold mine.

The point is, when they consider that a BTM deluxe/expanded release sales will be well above its break-even point, then it will be possible.

If they put a nice box set together with 5.1 SS, Live show, Unreleased disc of demos and other unreleased songs.Videos. Especially with the passing of Christine if there is any of her material floating around, It could do well.

I've bought Rumours at least 8 times, but NONE since the 2003 reissues.

Mick can eat dog food, for all I care.

I’m with you- Christine’s contributions to BTM alone deserve the Deluxe treatment. All her songs from that era deserve it.

Just like Bob Welch and Time, that lineup never existed.

Really, I just want an album of remastered Christine’s songs from 1988-95.

Skies The Limit
Love Shines
Hollywood
Do You Know
I Do
Save Me
Roll With Me Henry
Coventry Carol
Behind The Mask
Heart of Stone
Sooner or Later
Nights In Estoril
When It Comes To Love
As Long As You Follow
All Over Again

ETA: And use this for the band photo on the back cover.
