Found this acoustic cover of “The Ledge.”

It’s a straight reading that shows how Holly-influenced the song really is. It also reveals how so much of the album version’s strangeness is due to LB’s approach to recording and engineering. Without the weird tuning and manic guitar sound, it’s actually a charming rockabilly tune.

I love this!

I used to fantasize about putting together a cover band that nearly no one would come to see, because EVERY SONG would be a self indulgent pleasure song like this.

That was great. The Ledge has always been one of favorite songs from Tusk.

Great fun! Makes me wonder how this song would have sounded if it had been recorded more in a Fleetwood Mac way than in a Lindsey solo way.

While watching it, Youtube suggested this Landslide cover video. I watched it and... I can't say I liked it a lot, though it reminded me of my vacation days in Spain , but it was... interesting.

It's always struck me how folks consider some of the production choices so weird/strange/manic etc etc on Tusk. Maybe for its time it could be considered a little weird - especially for a band like Fleetwood Mac. However, there were plenty of other artists creating really strange albums and music within the same era that makes Tusk look really pedestrian. Heck, the Beatles were recording things at half speed and then speeding it up back in 1966. It's still a pop album compared to Bowie's Lodger album released in '79.

Much underrated group ...and Allan Clarke’s vocals are so good.
