But that isn’t Al’s point. His point was butts in seats, and John McVie doesn’t put any more butts in seats than Lindsey would have. For the people Al is talking about, John is no more integral to a Fleetwood Mac concert than Lindsey or Mick is. Nicks is the only one who fills the arenas, if that’s your reasoning.

My own opinion about a “reunion” is that Lindsey would find any configuration pointless that didn’t consist of him, Stevie, and Mick at this stage. Without that trio, he probably wouldn’t consider a reunion meaningful — after all, there’s no Fleetwood Mac legacy with Sheryl Crow or other outsiders. Assuming Lindsey wants to reunite with this band at all, he wants to reunite with Stevie and Mick (if John were still working, he would want John too). I doubt that Lindsey wants to form a largely new band and then call it a Fleetwood Mac legacy move. When he refers to the legacy, he’s referring to the music that they made for the white album, Rumours, Tusk, etc. Isn’t that obvious by now?

Regardless, without a McVie, it’s by definition not Fleetwood Mac.
I don't disagree with you. It would not be Fleetwood Mac without the McVies.
Where I disagree with you is your opinion of Mick. One last cash grab would have Mick sell Biddy's Britches. I don't think John would protest.
Mick would do it for the money
Lindsey would do it for the pleasure
Stevie would only do it to please Mick and try and re-write history and have much say into what happens.

But definitions are context-dependent. The context may be legal, musical, historical, whatever. If Mick and Lindsey release an album and call it Fleetwood Mac (and John isn’t anywhere in sight), we can argue the suitability or justice of the name, but we can’t argue the fact. If the name is emblazoned across the front of an album, it just is. If Azoff or some other money guy wants to push Mick, Lindsey, and Stevie out on tour without John and call it a Fleetwood Mac tour, whaddya gonna do, Steve? Argue that it really isn’t Fleetwood Mac?

I doubt John is actually a co-owner of the name Fleetwood Mac. In Mick’s book, Mick acknowledged the name was a mash up of their names, but John wasn’t actually in the band until later. Not that that makes a difference, I just thought it was interesting that Mick coined the name even though John hadn’t agreed to join at that time.

I also have a feeling John could not care less whether Mick, Stevie, Lindsey, or any other combination toured under the name Fleetwood Mac without him. John is done.

Peter Green actually coined the name "Fleetwood Mac"- that's been pretty well established- he gave it to the name of an instrumental track Peter, John and Mick recorded together whilst all three were still in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. .

Mick and John seem to own the trademark "Fleetwood Mac" so they can do what they want with it, I guess.

Oh yes I agree with that and with every singer or band. There's a moment they have to say farewell.

What did Christine once say- something like "there's only so many times you can put the vase back together".

So, it would be okay to go out as Fleetwood Mac with a bass player other than John, but Sheryl Crow is somehow out of the question? What’s the difference?

You know damn well that’s exactly what I’d do. I’d point out that they didn’t call it Fleetwood Mac when those three made “Twisted” back in 1996.

Like, those three can tour, but just start an offshoot, like Dead & Co., and let Fleetwood Mac be.

And, at least Deacon was Glenn’s flesh and blood. It made sense. Assuming he stays in music, he’ll probably have to do an obligatory Eagles song every show, so he might as well have it on his résumé.

But Fleetwood Mac without a McVie? Yikes! Although, I could maybe handle it if it was Dan Perfect.

I don't know what you guys think about Queen without Freddie, but that's a band I did want to see lately. Adam Lambert is a great show man, and from the videos I have seen, I know I would have enjoyed their concert a lot. Except for... last tour they did, I was in Dallas the day they played there, but when I saw the cheapest available ticket was around $1,000, and it wasn't even close to the stage, I said no way.

And at least they don't dare to be named Queen. They are presented as Queen + Adam Lambert.

I don't know if the "activity" mentioned fits also into this, but I think we must be aware anyway.

It has come to our attention that there has been a recent rise in fake social media accounts claiming to be Lindsey or members of his team, contacting followers and attempting to sell access to him in exchange for money. It hurts us to know that there are people in the world looking to take advantage of this community in that way.

Please note that communication from Lindsey and his team will only ever come from this official account. If you are approached in any other way, please be aware they are an impersonator. Importantly, Lindsey and his team would never attempt to solicit payment for personal access. We are actively working to remove these scam accounts across all social media. In the meantime, your help is invaluable - every time you block and report a fraudulent account, you're helping Lindsey's community.

Stay safe.

Oh, so that post about him getting Stevie pregnant and they are running off to New Zealand together but need help with airline tickets is fake?

No, but the post about her and Rod inviting to their long lost son bar mitzvah, who was conceived during the Heart & Soul 2011 tour, that is fake.

Will John give permission to use the name Fleetwood Mac for some lineup that doesn't involve either McVie or Buckingham? If it means he can earn a few million without leaving the house....probably?
