Hi HomerMcVie,
With respect, I agree and accept that! Out of the five 'Fireflies', there are only three remaining unless John decides to return, and unless you have spoken to him lately, we don't know how he feels! Yes, he apparently sold one of his bass guitars and can easily get another. If as individuals, they still want to play together then they should be able to. That's all I am saying!

He sold MANY of his guitars (we don't know how many he had/kept, if any) at the same auction where Mick and Christine sold much of their stuff.

Sorry, but you're wrong. He sold a huge collection of his basses.

Okay, this isn't about you being right, but I'll agree for arguments sake! The point I am making is that he could easily get his hands on another bass guitar, if he wanted to. Otherwise, there are still three 'Fireflies', to carry on, if they want to! That's all, I'm saying.

He'll be 79 in November. He's TIRED. And looks tired. Let him enjoy his retirement.

The people who can't accept the end of the band are just like the "shippers" from a decade ago.

Have a good day.

Why don't you let him speak for himself instead of putting words in his mouth and out to pasture already? If he wants to retire indefinitely, of course I support his decision. Thank-you, and I hope you have a good day too! I thinks it's best we close this subject, for now anyway. I really don't want to argue the point!

I don't see John going on a tour, he most probably is tired. But I'm just guessing based on latest news. Why did he sell his collection? Most likely because he feels it's a closed chapter. But it could be also because he doesn't want to work and just needed some cash for personal reasons. Again, just speculation, I think he has not given any interview.

If Mick convinced him, it could be just for a couple of shows. But as I said before, I am not interested in seeing that partial reunion, actually I would not like it to happen. Fleetwood Mac was over to me since 2018.

John was most likely thinking he was done even then, in 2022, before chris died and before the auction. from what i heard he sold pretty much everything, and he was there at the auction for one day answering technical questions about all the gear. and i know folks say he could always buy another bass but he had sooo many different ones for different songs that were tuned differently etc, so i don't think it would be as simple as just buying a new bass.

john was always frugal ...tighter than a crab's *ss , as my dad would say. he didn't need the money, he's got a sweet net worth. as long as he and his daughter/son in law are pretty much set for life, that's prob all he cares about.

But even chris had said he was "feeling a little bit frail" and didn't have the heart for it anymore in one of her final interviews. If he was frail *then*, imagine how he is now. and esp after all that's happened.. my opinion is that he's definitely done.

I would not think John (who doesn't even sail anymore) would want to go into a sound stage, studio, or anything else related to the biz. Just a hunch, but after everything that's happened, (including the 2018 drama) he's done.

I'd be surprised if he did a 1 off. Just doesn't sound like him.

Truly happy he participated in the BuckVie album. He sounds fantastic on it.

The fact that he didn't participate in the Peter Green tribute was a pretty clear indicator he was done. IMO.

Yep. Selling off your entire collection SCREAMS, "I'm done".

I don't even see him doing a one off.

Thought about that too. Because even if it's one show, it's a lot of work, rehearsal, business set up, contracts, marketing, agents, travel, etc.

This is when I considered John was completely done.

What was Mick's reason for his absence? He didn't feel like traveling to London and rehearsing?

I think the definitive moment we all knew it was over for John was when he sold his cherished Stevie surfboard.
