So, as I was perusing YouTube I came across these guys ranking the members of Fleetwood Mac. I've seen a few of their videos. I found this discussion quite interesting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5r8-UBTXrE Tastes Like Music: Ranking the Members of Fleetwood Mac They are each ranking the Fleetwood Mac members who have appeared on FM records. I don't totally agree with some of their decisions (how the hell can Bob Brunning be considered above anyone? He barely even counts!). Anyway, I thought I'd share my own ranking. In reverse order... 15) Bob Brunning; barely appeared. The nearly man who never (to the best of my knowledge) made a career as a professional musician after being passed over for John. 14) Dave Mason; Utter dross on Time. 13) Dave Walker; Good voice but a bad fit for the band 12) Bekka Bramlett; Probably a bit unfortunate not to have had a chance to make a bigger contribution. 11) Bob Weston; Lovely guitar playing but his contribution was limited. 10) Rick Vito; Just a bit too bland but his contribution to As Long As You Follow was great. 9) Billy Burnette; Also a bit bland but some of his songs were decent. If they’d been produced better I think a few of them could have been pretty good. 8) Danny Kirwan; Possibly the most genuinely under-rated guitarists of all time. Wrote great hooks, but pretty woeful lyricist. 7) Bob Welch; Never got the recognition he deserved. 6) Peter Green; Great guitarist. Great voice. Good songwriter. 5) John McVie; The coolest dude in the band. 4) Mick Fleetwood; The Daddy. Held them together for all those years. 3) Stevie Nicks; Whatever anyone says, she’s a great front woman. Wrote a clutch of amazing songs. 2) Lindsey Buckingham; An amazing musical brain. 1) Christine McVie; She’s Christine F*****g McVie!!! This obviously covers the whole history of Fleetwood Mac. As my top 5 are all the Rumours band, I felt the need to post in Rumours forum. Feedback welcomed : )

I don't have an issue with the list for the most part except for John being #5. That's too low for him. He should be in the top 3 and definitely before Stevie. Other than that, I could live with the list. Chris, John, and Mick are Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey would be next on the list. I do appreciate recognizing Bob Welch because its true that he never got the recognition he deserved. The list gets harder after that with where to put Peter Green, Stevie, Danny and Weston. Each are great for different reasons.

Cause for me it is hard to make a list based in the average of factors. Favorite as a songwriter? as a singer? instrument player? live performer? character or charisma? It's complicated so I just think about the final product. So when I listen to Fleetwood Mac I don't think about everything I know, so as not to spoil my enjoyment of their songs by what I know about their personalities or the serious mistakes they've made. If I did, I think I'd stop listening to half of Fleetwood Mac's songs. ![]()
