THIS was a favorite of mine at the time. I had cut it out of a friend's brother's Rolling Stone collection and hung it on my bedroom wall. Its still one of my favorite photos of this lineup. I would love to speak to the photographer because this photoshoot included several photos. I think Chris and Lindsey change places in one of them. But THIS was and still is my favorite photo of the band.
I forgot about the rumor that Stevie tried to buy herself out of the band. And WTF? Why did Stevie not be interviewed by Rolling Stone on the advice of her manager. That part of this article always irked me like the lines that Stevie got the lion share of the applause. An astonished Christine holds up a teddy bear. "Someone actually handed this to ME"
I could be wrong but I always sensed the writer purposely put lots of drama in this article. But there was enough drama with the band during this era so I could be wrong.

.
Maybe the photo shoot on top of the Empire State Building was a nod to Lindsey's song on the album.

I find it funny how they wrote that Lindsey 'didn't like to talk' about his contributions to the other two's songs....imo he has talked an awful lot about that topic in tons of interviews! he did seem a little frustrated, though. i remember this article when it came out. damn i'm old. i remember wanting to go see them at that NJ show at the meadowlands but my dad wasn't into the idea lol....so poor me, i didn't go. he did, however, take me to duran duran which was surprising because he liked fleetwood mac much better lol

My older cousin was taking me to the Tusk tour. I came down with bronchitis or something, sick as a dog. My mom told me I couldn't go, being that sick. Even though I was a kid, I told her, IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that if I didn't get to see FLEETWOOD MAC, there would be hell to pay, and that I'd never forgive her.

It was a great show.

It's funny to see those dynamics in play way back then. It really makes the events of 2018 even less surprising.

It's too bad Lindsey didn't fire back some quips about Mick's inability to manage the band which pretty much flushed all their proceeds from the Tusk tour down the drain.

I think this is the first time I read happy and Fleetwood Mac in the same sentence.

And sure they were satisfied of being in the top, but not enough happy to go on a long road. Was this the shortest tour of this lineup?

I was head over heels in love with the band. NOTHING was going to stop me from seeing them for the first time.

It was the shortest tour, and I believe it was due to Stevie's solo commitments.

Yeah I dont think they were that happy. It was a short tour and everyone but Mick wanted it over. Stevie and Chris both had solo albums scheduled. The most telling thing about this era was the Hold Me video and how the band would not appear together anywhere in the video. Everyone came in separate cars, had separate tents, and did not really speak to each other. Bella Donna was still high on the charts which really must of made Lindsey mental. I don't think the band enjoyed making the album much either. Stevie was back and forth and sent her boyfriend/producer packing. Mirage was an album they did not want to do. They were contractually obligated to get one more album in with Warner. This is why Stevie's solo tour was so short.
They really did not seem to want to be around each other on this tour. Just think. When the Mirage tour ended, Stevie was back in the studio and married just 3 months later preparing for the Wild Heart's release just months into the new year. Her life was fast and furious. 1981 she recorded and released a solo album, went on a summer tour with Tom Petty, flew to France for Mirage recordings, came back to do a solo tour, back to France to finish Mirage, then make MTV videos, go on tour with Fleetwood Mac, go back into the studio, get married, make solo videos, go on tour with her boyfriend, separate from her husband. Fast and furious and wild times.

According to her, that had a lot to do with Lindsey. She and Jimmy flew together to France after the last show of the Bella Donna tour. Jimmy was supposed to stay with her there for ten days, but he ended up leaving after like a day because of how Lindsey behaved....she never said specifically what that was, but one can imagine the nasty comments from LB and Jimmy feeling like he wasn't going to stay there and be insulted without pushing back and Stevie being all "please don't make things worse" and him leaving. Their relationship was never really the same after that... she finished recording and went out on the road with FM, and when she came back Jimmy had sort of moved on. They picked up again but lived separately and it was ultimately over.

And after how many, 5, 6 years of breaking up, Lindsey isn't over it? I'd say to him Get a life! Unless Stevie's behavior in France triggered those reactions from Lindsey, who knows. Was it because Jimmy was there? was it because the Bella Donna success and Stevie was arrogant about it? Was it because she was there for a short time and wanted to change or rule during the studio sessions? Was it a bit of all that?

Jimmy produced a fantastic album, and she probably WANTED him throwing in his two cents about production.
