For those who may be interested.... Julien's Auctions, who did the Chris/John/Mick auction last year has one of John's bass guitars for sale in a new auction called "Played, Worn, & Torn-- Rock n Roll iconic guitars and memorabilia"

Wow. Clearly you'd be buying it for him having owned it. I used to have the acoustic guitar version of this, and the sound was awful. All treble, no bass.

Really cool. Reading that brought back memories of first seeing the Seven Wonders video. Everyone commented on 2 things: how cool to see an acoustic bass and how big Stevie's boobs were.

Was this in the original sale?

The Little Lies bass!
Perhaps by gathering all the mystical artifacts (John's bass, Chris' upright, Mick's farm hat, Lindsey's pinstripe suit, and Stevie's 18th century nightgown), it might be possible to turn a page in time and rearrange just a day or two.

I know. Lindsey is right. If they had kept him in the band, we would have had a proper last tour. Very sad for the legacy of the band to end the way it did.

And it's all the old goat's fault. That's her legacy.

I love those brief shots of the band playing together in the Little Lies video; they look so cool. If only we could have had just one last single, one last video of the five of them. Oh well...

I've always been a Stevie/Lindsey fan but since everything that happened and Chris passing away, I've become more a fan of Chris and John's work. John is such a fantastic bass player. Very under rated

So weird how that happened. But, mostly because of the way Stevie is portraying herself.

Did John get rid of all his bass guitars? This thread was about the Little Lies bass, but there was another one about the "big announcement" of the auction of Mick, Christine and John things, that mentioned a "The Chain" bass.
After those auctions we commented here that itwas highly unlikely that John would participate in any concerts because he had already auctioned off his bass guitars, which would imply that he had truly retired completely. But did he actually get rid of them all? In the 2006 Q&A session somebody asked him about how many basses he take out on the road. I usually take about 6 - 8 basses out on the road. Some are back ups and some are in different tunings. I've never boiled my strings. Not quite sure what this does to them. They're usually changed after 2 - 3 gigs. https://www.fleetwoodmac.net/fwm/ind...=97&Itemid=114 Of course I do believe he has retired completely, but I guess he kept some of his bass guitars.

I guess we don't always get a storybook ending, but this one seems especially sad. There's something tragic about the chemistry of the two people who brought the band its greatest success combusting to end the band.
I don't think there's a Fleetwood Mac without Chris, but I can't even contemplate one without the John. I hope he has gotten to enjoy his retirement and has many more years of peace. At best, whatever comes next (if anything, and I hope there isn't anything), would be Fleetwood and Frenemies, not Fleetwood Mac. Anusha |
