Default Stevie Nicks at Glastonbury 2024

There’s quite a bit of talk online about the possibility of Stevie Nicks headlining at the Glastonbury festival next summer (very end of June). The organisers have desperately tried to book Fleetwood Mac over the years, but to no avail. The chances of that happening are now remote (close to zero). But the organiser Emily Eavis just announced they’d secured an American female in the ‘legends slot’. The legend normally draws bigger crowds than the 3 main headliners. Lots of people are tipping it to be Stevie next year. I think she’d be a popular choice and would absolutely smash it.

Macca, The Stones, The Who, Elton, Bruce and U2 all headlined the Pyramid and didn’t play the “Legends Slot” which isn’t as prestigious as headlining. Doesn’t the Legends slot take place during the daylight too? I think Dolly and Janet played during the daylight.

But good for Stevie since it’s still on the Pyramid stage, just not top billing. She loves to see a sea of people in front of her, it’s too bad she doesn’t have middle and side ramps to get closer to them like The Stones did.

The Legend spot at Glasto is Sunday afternoon.
On the Pyramid stage and is very prestigious…
Great names in the last few years.
Dolly, Neil Diamond, Dame Shirley Bassey, Barry Gibb, Kylie…..
Yusuf, Sir Tom Jones, Paul Simon….etc etc that’s just off the top of my head.

It’s very popular and Stevie will be fab.

Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Rod, Stones, Bruce, The Who and company weren’t playing the Legends slot and they are legends. They headlined.
Headliners get two hours or so?

Legends is cool because you play the pyramid but it’s still daylight. Tony Bennett played it once I think.

The Legends slot has become the unofficial 4th headliner. In fact, it’s become a thing that the ‘Legend’ draws a bigger crowd than the 3 headliners as it’s become a bit of a cultural go-to event.
Elton John got the biggest ever ‘official’ crowd last year (years ago it was hard to judge as there was no fence and many thousands of people used to get in illegally). Aside from Elton I think the biggest official crowd was for Dolly as the Legend.

Elton was one of the three headliners, right? He wasn't in the Legends Slot.

That's amazing. I didn't know Dolly could draw a festival crowd like the way you describe the size!

I think one year Kenny Rogers did the Legends slot. Very inetresting choice.

Hope she buys a new frock…
Black won’t look right on a warm summer afternoon in June.
