Don't forget she was Christine Perfect w/Chickenshack before she was Christine McVie!

As for those guys and the band, it's tough to say...

Wasn't one of those guys found to be having an affair with Mick Fleetwood's wife at the time, and told to leave? My recollection recalls that part of the story also from the time the Fake Mac had a couple tour dates before being discovered they were a sham...

The December '74 Record Plant performance seems to 100% confirm the chronology of Bobby Hunt and Doug Graves.
At the end of the simulcast the announcer reads Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Bob Welch and Bobby Hunt.
The September Record Plant performance featured Doug Graves.
Thus, DG worked on Heroes Are Hard To Find and joined the band on tour. At some point he left the tour and was replaced by Bobby Keys. Bob W must have given his old mate a call to help them out by filling in.
I wonder why DG was given the boot.

PS
He later went on to work with Peter Green...
...he dug graves

I'm several years late, but I found this quote from Christine McVie's interview with Contemporary Keyboard.

During one earlier tour, Fleetwood Mac did carry an additional keyboardist, Doug Graves, but that idea was soon abandoned. "He was there to back me up," McVie says, "but I think it was decided after the first two or three concerts that I was better off without him. The band wanted me to expand my role and have a little more freedom, so he played some organ behind me, but he didn't play the same way I did. I may not play very well, but I play it the way it suits the band."

Thanks for this. I actually started this thread, years ago. It's all potentially ambiguous, isn't it? What does "carry" mean in the context of Christine's quote? It's only of an academic, nerdy insterest but I kind of think that Doug was a member of Fleetwood Mac, however briefly. Others will disagree.

A side man isn't a member, any more than a guitar tech is.

A helpful reader named Paul M. wanted to contribute information. Here is his post:

I knew Bobby Hunt and worked with him for about 2-3 years back around 2010-2013, and saw some of his gigs as well.
Anyway, he told me he knew Lee Michaels back in Merced when they were young.

Here is a cut and paste with Lee talking about Bobby.

Quote:
"Your choice of the Hammond organ as your primary instrument. What are some of the most important players that influenced your own style, and what in particular did they employ in their playing that you liked?
There was a guy in Merced, California, in a band called the Merced Blue Notes; his name was Bobby Hunt. When he bought a Wurlitzer piano, I bought a Wurlitzer piano. We used to hide outside the rehearsal hall to hear them because they were so good. He was a big influence on me, and when he bought an organ, I bought an organ"
Bobby he met Welch while they both played in a local Los Angeles band, the Seven Souls .

Bob Welch and Bobby Hunt were members of The Seven Souls, an Los Angeles-based soul band formed in 1964, alongside Henry Moore. After The Seven Souls disbanded in 1969, Welch, Hunt, and Moore formed a new trio called Head West. Welch later achieved fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac before pursuing a solo career.

Bobby told me he played on the last Mac live tour, if I recall correctly. I believe it was in Europe, and when Welch split, Bobby went with him, and toured with him, and was on 1 or 2 of Welch's solo albums. I believe Bobby Hunt is still alive.

This is some cool info. His brief residence with FM was solely in the US, I believe. Heroes was never toured in the UK or elsewhere in Europe. There would have been little-to-no market for it. And I’m fairly certain Davis’ injunction against them would have prohibited their touring in the UK until a settlement was reached.
