Default 9/27/23 Pittsburgh show review

I went last night to her show in Pittsburgh. I hadn't seen her live since 2016. I boycotted the 2018 FM shows because of Lindsey getting fired. First, we had great seats to the side, behind Marilyn and Sharon. When the band came out the first big thing I noticed was Al Ortiz has lost a lot of weight and has a new hairstyle. The arena was packed. I think it might have been sold out. As for merchandise, they had tons of stuff. Too expensive of course, but I ended up buying a bag, sweatshirt, zippered hoody and a coffee mug. LOL. They got me. Stevie came out sounding and looking great. I loved the new backdrop. I did take pictures and I'll download them a bit later. Of course we all wondered if her hair was real or a wig, most of us thought it was probably a wig. I hate the skirt and leggings and tennis shoes, but my friends said they didn't even notice the shoes. They thought she had boots on! Stevie sang very well last night. The voice was good and strong. I noticed a bit of lowering on some notes, but it was done well. One of my friends thought she sounded just like on the radio. I don't know about that. She did a lot of different endings on some of the songs. Dreams was one of them. It freshened it up a bit. Even Rhiannon was good and SDMHA, which I think hadn't sounded great in a while. I guess there is something about being there and seeing it live as it's happening. It all sounded great. It amazes me that she is still able to do this at 75. Although during the crack head dance on GDW I thought she hurt herself. One of my friends thought she might have gotten dizzy and just took a moment. She had her hands on her back and was bent over. It looked like she was in pain for something. Not much movement anymore from Stevie, but that's ok. I also think Waddy has to be in his 70's and he is still banging away on the guitar. The girls aren't that young either. Marilyn has a great voice and I noticed her background vocals more than Sharon's. She didn't introduce the band, but I think she doesn't do that anymore anyway and EOS is so shortened now. It's like why even do it? I think so she can talk more? She got a bit political during Soldiers Angel. I got a bit nervous hearing her talk about Putin and if he succeeds how he will take country by country. I believe she is right, but when you talk religion and politics, people can get riled up. Overall it was a great show and 2 of my friends hadn't seen her before and thought she was great. I'll post some photos and videos soon

Thanks for the review. Glad it was a great show for you and you had great seats. I am shocked she did not introduce her band. Perhaps she forgot? I cant imagine any performer doing that. Even Fleetwood Mac introduces themselves. Maybe she forgot and the band played on.
I see she is still packing them in. She is coming to Hollywood Hard Rock in February 2024 and I actually "thought" about going. But the prices are too high and I don't like the setlist. Its her 24k Gold setlist with all the good stuff removed. Hard pass.

She hasn’t done band intros since the 24 KG tour, which is so weird since talking is such a big part of her show now. And she always gave the best band intros.

I think that is rude and surprising coming from her since she has been in the business for so long. Everyone introduces their band. Weird stuff. But this is coming from the person that dropped her most epic verse from her most epic song. Just really weird. I think its really arrogant and disrespectful.

The best band intro I’ve ever seen by far was E.L.O. Jeff Lynn introduced the conductor and had him introduce the orchestra. There’s a guy who travels on a separate plane!

Maybe the band has asked her not to introduce, them anymore, because they just want to focus on playing.

Sometimes you say things that are funny and that is funny! 'Well', until we know for sure, I'm trying to keep the conversation light instead of going down the, same, rabbit hole of never ending darkness that you do.

But it is odd, no? Can anyone name any solo performer ever that does not introduce their band at a concert? Yet she's got photoshopped galore photos of herself and others behind her.

Like you say, it is odd! I am just as curious as you and everyone else, especially when she used to always introduce them. 🤔 I would hope it's more than just arrogance on her part. Honestly, I have no idea, just trying to think out loud. There isn't a lot we can do, except wonder why? If there is anyone in her band reading this post could you, please, offer an explanation?

I think it's a time saver. Because she talks so much at her concerts now.

You know, she RUINED the ending of the band of my life. You understand that her selfish, narcissistic ways killed the band's legacy?

Yes, Cher at Vegas 2010. It was a good show but she didn't seem very enthusiastic.

And this may not apply as a solo performer but by 2011 Tears for Fears was practically a duet, and at their concert there were obviously additional musicians, who were not presented.

But yes it's odd and rude nt to do it. I remember the most charismatic lady presenting her band was Donna Summer (Anaheim 2005).
