For quite a while Stevie could play the sheds and slightly smaller arenas with 10-12k seats without a problem. By the time the Rod Stewart / Pretenders tours came along, she had already been touring a whole bunch. She was over saturating the market. If you take into account things kicking off with the SYW tour in 2003 and all of her subsequent solo tours and FM tours that followed, that's a lot. The pandemic clearly helped ticket demand for her. She fell off the radar for three years and now she's nearly selling out Pine Knob in Detroit. You can sit on the lawn for the bargain price of $150.00 LOL.

If Rob C. was the catalyst for The Dance, then it started when Fleetwood Mac was doing Time.
Lindsey came off the road in August, 1993, two months before Dave Mason joined, so that conversation would have had to happen after Lindsey reconnected with Christine and the new and coke-free Mick, long before it was announced Mick was working on Lindsey’s new album. I could see someone putting the bug in Lindsey’s head that a reunion tour would be great for his solo career. Billy said he knew the band was over and tried warning Bekka and Dave because he knew the attorneys. That would certainly explain why Time was essentially DOA.

And don't forget, he passed on "the lucrative" Tango Tour money. Even if a reunion was just an idea at this point, it would make so much sense and help all of them collectively and individually.

Stevie was cool around this time. Maybe she'd been humbled by flopping herself. (In entertainment and personally) None of them had a good look. I thought Twisted was awful, but I ran out and bought it immediately.

Interesting, I swore I was the only one that was not impressed with Twisted. I see it all the time as a fan favorite. Nothing special about the song IMHO

It was a first stab at B/N since their 1973 album. And after listening to the 1973 album, then listening to that song... It was clear they were completely different people and artists, at that point. I was bored, to be honest.

Either or. Both dont appeal to me and never have. But you could be right maybe the demo is the favorite. Stevie seemed so proud of her song with Lindsey and I thought it was the most boring song she ever recorded. Give me Street Angel or give me death.

The way she spoke about Twisted was like she just wrote Silver Springs or something. She was just coming out of a very dark place and recording again. So to her it seemed like a masterpiece. It was the most meh song I ever heard. I am not joking but Jane is a far better song.

Rob C. was an in-house producer for WB. Lindsey wasn’t his employer, WB was. That’s a red flag that the label wasn’t going to allow Lindsey the same creative free reign he’d previously enjoyed. Furthermore, if a WB employee was pushing for a Hell Freezes Over-type reunion and encouraging Lindsey to get Mick involved on the project, that was coming from much higher on the chain of command. So, not only were the higher ups at WB pushing for a Rumours reunion, but they also intentionally decided to tank Time while it was still being recorded. By the time Mick got involved with Lindsey’s album and all of the industry guys started coming around, Billy knew the Time lineup was over and tried to warn Bekka and Dave. In any case, all of the “everything came together very organically” was about as sincere as the “it just felt like a duet album.”

... and if I might add, Stevie was in need of a boost as well. So, "convincing" her to do this wasn't all that difficult. But I found her to be chill about it. She wasn't the train wreck she is now.

Stevie needed a relaunch. Quitting smoking, losing weight, getting a makeover, and adopting the older, wiser godmother who survived it persona was the key to successfully redefining her public image. She probably could have done it as a solo artist, with special guests like Billy Corgan, Courtney Love, and Dave Grohl, but it wouldn’t have been nearly as profound or as durable as a Fleetwood Mac reunion.
