I am just a fan!

Here is Think About Me from Mobile AL Aug 11. People say Think About Me was loosie goosie in August and it was, but it was also an energetic instrumental rave-up. It also captures the band’s vocal recklessness at that point in the long tour.

I see they’ve put GDW up now as the next sample track... quite a nice version I thought although Stevie gets the lyrics wrong to start.

Thanks for the alert, Mark! Great gritty vocal by Stevie and nice clear sound with a good bottom end. (It’s important that Stevie have a great bottom end.)

Does anyone have the 8.29.77 audience recording handy (recorded by Steve Denison) to verify the date and locale of the label? Plus, this cut seems to have the normal outro shortened somewhat (with Christine’s pianet soaked in flanger). Was that the performance or an album edit?

You know, after listening to it... I'm almost positive it's from the Mirage tour, not from 1980.

Oh for sure, we talked about this on the other thread for the Deluxe release. It’s from the other night at The Forum from the Mirage Video. Lindsey’s guitar and the vocals are a dead giveaway. We have a great version of The Chain on the Tusk deluxe from 1980 so I am pretty happy to get a cleaned up 1982 version!

Haha, oh I'm always late to the party. Looks like they got the date wrong on Spotify (but I'm guessing that's WBs fault).

Listened to the new "GDW Live" release in NY on the subway, Sunday. What a wonderful version. I love the keys, especially in the beginning.

I thought that beginning was just sublime. Chris’s playing really set the mood for the song. It was a real treat to hear!

No worries! I’m sure for 99.9% of people who listen to that will just go along with it being from 1980 with no questions. But keen ears around these parts would pick up on it immediately! It’s wrong on Apple Music too so I’m blaming WB as well.

Isn't that some form of heresy?
