I'm absolutely not belittling "Peacekeeper's" merits as a song, but the first single from the new album by any "name" act has, in recent years, been the one that receives the most attention at radio.

A lot of it has to do with the curiousity-factor.
Does anyone really think that the Eagles' "Hole In The World" would have received as much attention if it were the third or fourth release from their upcoming album?

And even though "Say You Will" was performed on the Today Show and the Tonight Show, "Peacekeeper" was the song radio had been serviced at that time.
"Say You Will" wasn't released to radio stations until several months later... long after those performances.
Same with its use in the 'That 70s Show' promos... that happened before the album itself was even released.

So, with no video to promote it, and with no timely television appearances, the song did less at radio than "Peacekeeper"... although it still made the Top 20 on the AC charts, peaking just two spots below "Peacekeeper."

Sorry, just a mention of that song gives me the giggling hysterics, Johnny.

A truly horrid song.

I take that back. "Say You Will" peaked at #17 on the AC charts, while "Peacekeeper" peaked at #10.
I mixed up their AC chart positions with their Adult Top 40 positions. *blushes*

Still, "Say You Will" didn't do badly at all, especially given the lack of timely promotion.

Oh, Johnny, excuses, excuses.

Seriously, there is some wisdom in what you say. Very little though. (Let's not get carried away .)

I have my opinions, but I like to let the facts back up my statements.

This is one of those "what if" kind of things, because we have no way of knowing how "Say You Will" would have done if it had been the first single, or if it had had a video like "Peacekeeper" did, or if it had been performed on national television while it was also being pushed at radio.

But I completely stand behind my statement that "Say You Will" did very well... and I think the Billboard charts back me up on that.

Say You Will had a live video like Peacekeeper, but the live shots had not been "slicked up" like the final Peacekeeper video. I agree, Say You Will should have done better and could have done better had it been the first single. But, I have nothing to back that up with other than my opinion, which it and $1.59 gets you a ride on the bus

Jason, I think what you're thinking of, is that "Sessions @ AOL" clip... but that was never an officially released video, it was just a live performance available as part of AOL's promotion of the album.
