They DEFINITELY added overdubs, remixed and replaced on the same link (who easy to do). What an embarrassment they are now.

Hmm, well after another listen, I think you all are right about the sound edits. I didn't hear them at first but suddenly, there's Christine in the mix.

Nice to have a better sound, I guess.

I think (or assume) that seconhandhandchain is certainly aware, like most of us, that Lindsey has always made a point of sprucing up live recordings in post-editing (eg The Dance), so that's not the point.

The point is that the replacement of the video was clumsy and amateur, particularly after hearing the producer rave about how much effort "the machine" made pre and post performance.
And yes, that kind of clumsy move would likely never have happened with Lindsey around. He would have thrown his guitar at the wall before he condoned that original joke of a mix.

The fact that it took them a few days to fix it makes me wonder if overdubbing was involved; they shouldn't have needed backlash to figure out the mix was crap. John's big bass solo was practically inaudible!

What a fiasco.

If I didn't know the song, I wouldn't know John's bass-line was there, or he was doing something special, save for the fact the band was actually looking over at him, and IIR (because I can't watch it again) Christine actually walked over to him. I don't recall ever seeing them do that before.

I posted this in the “after the Ellen performance, we need a reminder” thread too but it also applies to this discussion. Hard evidence that you can’t say that Christine and Stevie can’t carry a show or bring excitement like Lindsey. And it isn’t a video from the 70’s, 80s or even Dance era, it’s from her very last tour.

So like Many others have also said, you can’t even come close to getting a full idea of what this band will look/sound like from their performance on Ellen.

I watched the Ellen clips on Wednesday, Sept. 5, and John's bass solo was prominent at that time. I actually wondered what people on this thread were talking about when they said you could hardly hear it. I am making this comment to indicate that they must have done the edits by that date.

When were the clips originally posted? I didn't watch them right away.

When it was first posted, I could hear the bass just fine, too. I wasn't sure why people were saying that, other than I was watching on a desktop, with real speakers(not good ones, but not phone speakers, either).

For me this is the exact same scenario.Except my speakers are good ones (Bose). I heard his bass line perfectly fine the day it was posted. I really enjoyed Mike Campbell's guitar playing throughout The Chain. But I'm with most of you in saying that Neil Finn doesn't work within Fleetwood Mac. I never want to see either of these videos ever again. I rewatched only after Nancy said they were remixed but I didn't really hear a difference. The Chain should be dropped from the set. It's such a slap in the face to all us fans cause not only did the Rumours 4 break the chain, they SEVERED it for life. If they think they can fire Lindsey and we are just going to roll over like dogs then they better bring forth a band that is BETTER than the one they had and frankly that is quite impossible. And Christine and Stevie should be more animated than ever before. These folks have a new band to sell and IMO it was a total flop. And I WANTED them to be good!

$tevie is Mick's meal ticket, and they BOTH know that. Mick needs her far more than $he needs him, so he must appease her wishes.

I think Mike is an okay fit, but the Crowded House guy felt very awkward. How can $he sing those songs to him?

$tevie'$ ego got the best of her, and they done screwed the pooch on this horrible decision.

Lots of power there definitely. Old-time rock spirit. I guess she felt like putting it up that night. She should cast off her inhibitions more often and break out that girl for more audiences throughout the year.

I couldn’t hear John when I watched on my phone and it was only somewhat better when I streamed it on TV. It wasn’t until I listened in the car that it was clear.

I agree. I always wonder what goes on leading up to the show that inspires a performance like that. Someone she met with? Good time New Jersey memories? Who knows.
