3 of my faves, although I am struggling to "hear" Neil on "The Chain". It will be interesting. I saw 24KG 4 times, and each time, even the Stevie die-hards were scratching their heads with some of the stuff she pulled out. This message board is so entrenched in the drama, we are expecting something different, but those folks that have no idea Lindsey won't be there (and I am sure there are a lot) may struggle.. Time will tell--it's going to be an interesting fall for sure!

I'm not going but if I was and I heard the opening lines of The Chain I would (hypothetically) throw tomatoes. There's no point in doing that song anymore.
And personally I think any pre-BN era songs except Oh Well and BMW will all eventually get dropped. They just aren't well known enough for most of the audience.

But, none of the songs FM are talking about weren’t either staples of the set during the early Rumours era or weren’t hits in Europe during the early years. They’re much less obscure than what Stevie did. BTW, I will give Stevie credit for stepping out of her comfort zone with setlists and wanting the band to do the same. I’m just sad they couldn’t find a balance between brand new, very distant old, and in-between with the Rumours band.

No worse than 87-95… Or, 98-13 if we’re being puritanical.

Really? You don’t think something like “Rattlesnake Shake” couldn’t hold an audience’s attention as well as “I’m So Afraid” during a set? I became a fan in 1987 when I was 13, and “Rattlesnake Shake” was a very early standout, like on the first listen. And, you don’t think there are enough people who remember “Hypnotized” now? The audience is very mixed at shows. A lot of people will know those songs.

I think there's a big difference between someone leaving on their own for valid reasons (and in Christine's case) giving their blessing to the band. But pushing someone out is 'breaking the chain'.

And no I don't think so. At least where I live, their shows are FILLED with a lot of people in their 20s who bought Rumours on vinyl at Urban Outfitters and saw Stevie on American Horror Story. Those people don't even know I'm So Afraid, I've seen it with my own two eyes. They sing along to Dreams, Landslide, Go Your Own Way, Seven Wonders (thanks to AHS) and the really famous songs. But even songs like Say You Love Me, So Afraid etc they literally don't even know the lyrics. It's not a secret that the pre-BN era is not that well known to most people in the US at least today as it is to the megafans on this board. If the only people who bought tickets to FM concerts today were the fans who have been there since the beginning they'd be playing to barely filled arenas. It's not a matter of remembering as it is that most of these people are fans of the Rumours lineup. They just don't really listen to anything beside the Rumours lineup.

To me there's just something hypocritical about a group of people who pushed one of their members out to be singing a song that was written about all of them NOT breaking the chain. To me, the meaning of the song is lost now. That's just my perspective.

And when I saw Stevie, Crying in the Night was one of the quietest moments of the show. People clapped and cheered as they did for everything but when she actually sang it there was a very visible difference in the audience during it versus during songs like Dreams, Stop Dragging My Heart Around etc. In general I do believe most of the concert-goers mostly just want to hear Rumours and the obvious other hits but you're right, anything is possible. Maybe even if they don't know the songs, they'll like them.

As much as Christine was always my favorite, she doesn't have much voice left these days, or seemingly, much in playing chops.

And I'm not saying that Lindsey had much range left, either, BUT, I hope too much of the show isn't Neil and the backup singers.

For the past several years, the fighting over set lists hasn’t been so much about digging into the catalogue as much as it was about “who”was going to have a “hit” or showcase song cut to accommodate older, lesser known songs. Was Lindsey going to cut Big Love to do Rattlesnake Shake? No. Same for Stevie.

Stevie also got some vocal/stage breaks with LB doing I’m So Afraid, Never Going Back Again, Big Love. Not sure how that will work with Neil and Mike.

I wonder if Chris will do Songbird again. I hope so but it was a bit shakey at times, even with LB on stage with her.

What exactly would Stevie's showcase songs be then? Lindsey's are the obvious guitar-y ones. Stevie performs all her songs more or less the same way now due to obvious vocal reasons. Maybe GDW because of her little dance?

I know, that this is the end.
And deep down I know, after all the s**t that’s gone down, it would not
be right.
But just a teeny weeny part of me hopes to see Rumours 5 one more time.

If the 5 reunited again for a final tour it would be crazy. The collateral damage to "new members" who were told they were permanently part of the band. I guess they would be treated like Rick and Billy, tossed to the curb when the convenience and novelty wore off.
