The thing that pisses me off the most about this (aside from the fact that everyone's reporting that Lindsey "left" the band - as if) is that - let's be realistic, here - how many years do they have left on this earth? Assuming this is all due to money and pettiness, do they really expect to be on their deathbeds, thinking about everything they've accomplished in life, and sit peacefully with the knowledge that the chain was purposefully and pathetically broken during what's most likely their final years together? Apparently so, and that's sad.

I can't even say I'm disheartened or sad. It's more like a gnawing rage inside me that these people care so little for their fans, and think so little of us that they believe they can spin this in a positive light.

Lindsey only ever tried to salvage this band as viable creative force instead of letting it languish as the cash cow Stevie and Mick treat it as. All Fleetwood Mac is good for in their eyes is $$$. It's disgusting.

I'll love Christine forever, but it comes to light that she didn't actively fight this, she gets no pass from me.

I go along with the gnawing rage. But I also do feel very disheartened and very, very sad.

But I comforted myself with the knowledge that Lindsey and Chris were speaking so positively about the future and other projects down the line. Now that's all dashed.

And for what it's worth, I actually love Neil Finn and Crowded House. But this is not the right move for him. I wonder if he has any idea of the sh*tstorm he just joined.

I doubt he will complain. With the $$$$$$$ he’s about to make touring with them. Even if it’s only a small percentage of what LB would have been paid I bet it’s a ton more than what Crowded House ended up making in their final concerts. He’s graduating from a county Fair to.... county fair in arenas. Haha

Think about it. It’s well known that Stevie blamed LB for forcing her to take her clothes off for Buckingham Nicks and that he Put Hands on her Neck in 1987. And who knows what else. I’m sure she blames him for sexually taking advantage of her or some kind of assault in 1997 after leading her on and not marrying her. And in her mind I bet she seems him trying to tell her what tense to use as being oppressive and asserting being a Man over her SOOO helpless woman-ness. I bet that Stevie, ever never able to let things go OR accept ANY blame for her poor life choices or terrible taste in men orFORGIVE the man that helped her achieve her success, who puts up with her BS year after year.....

.... I bet she pulled out that MeToo card on Mick and played it for all it’s worth “Kick out Linsdey or I’m gonnna MeToo the heck out of him and RUIN Fleetwood Mac”. I can totally see the selfish Miss Havishan princess Old Bag do it.
I agree with you.

Breaking News: Fleetwood Mac Fires Lindsey Buckingham

Fleetwood Mac has fired Lindsey Buckingham after a disagreement over the band's upcoming tour, Rolling Stone has confirmed. The band announced Monday that Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House will replace him.

'Silver Springs': Inside Fleetwood Mac's Great Lost Breakup Anthem
News of Buckingham's departure initially broke when former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Billy Burnette shared an April 4th tweet that has since been deleted, saying: "Breaking news: Lindsey Buckingham is out but I'm not in." Rolling Stone has confirmed Buckingham's departure, though no specific tour dates have been announced.

Fleetwood Mac issued a collective statement about the news, saying: "We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family. With Mike and Neil, we’ll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we’ll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honoring that spirit on this upcoming tour."

Mick Fleetwood added, "Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents ... We jammed with Mike and Neil and the chemistry really worked and let the band realize that this is the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style. We know we have something new, yet it’s got the unmistakable Mac sound."

Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974 along with Stevie Nicks. He wrote and sang many of their most memorable songs, including "Go Your Own Way," "Tusk" and "Second Hand News." He left in 1987 shortly before the Tango On The Night tour (where he was replaced by Billy Burnette) and rejoined in 1996 for The Dance reunion tour. He remained active on the road with them for the next two decades. They last played full sets at Classic East and Classics West in July of last year, through they did play a brief set in January at the pre-Grammy MusiCares concert in their honor. The set ended, fittingly enough, with "Go Your Own Way."

In August of last year, Mick Fleetwood spoke to Rolling Stone about the band's next tour. "I was in Italy recently and met Stevie out there," he said. "She said to me, 'Let's sit down and really listen to some stuff that sort of almost got forgotten.' So I know she's already thinking she wants to do some things we haven't done in years. I always think that Stevie and Lindsey should do a Buckingham Nicks song in the set. And have Christine do a blues song. I hope it certainly won't be the same show as we did before. We always played nearly three hours, and we cut it back a little bit for the wear and tear, but we do over two hours. And when you got three singers, which is, like, three bands, really, to get that perfect set, it's a trip."

Two words: Stevie Nicks

She killed Fleetwood Mac. She refused to participate in recording ONE LAST great album with these 5 members. Then she pushed out and brought in one of her favorite guitarists to do the final tour with.

Its so wrong

Chiffonhead though I am, I totally get where Lindsey is coming from. Stevie bleated on for years about wanting Christine back, then Christine came back and Stevie still wouldn't work with them - instead insisting on promoting and touring a (pointless) album of reworked old demo's. Lindsey, by the sound of things, was totally down with doing NEW music with all 5 members, but Stevie wouldn't. And I guess Mick being Mick knows that the money is in touring and nostalgia so he'll go with that.

When I saw the news, I just thought "oh brother, this again!". They really need to call it a day. But soldier on they will insist on.

I'm intrigued to see if they pull some unusual setlist material out of the bag.

It's a little sad to see so many people having complete meldowns and throwing out their collections, selling their CD's etc. The music will never be gone and whatever line up changes happen, nobody can ever damage that legacy. There are people who thought Fleetwood Mac died in 1975, remember. And then again in 1987. But here we all are, still talking about them and still listening to those timeless songs.

They're banking on none of us questioning this or any of their other faulty logic. Just show up, money in hand, ready to part with every last dime! That's all they want at this point.

Give me a week or two and I reckon I'll move on from rage and start feeling the sadness. Sigh. This band has broken my heart too many times.

Fair enough. But I wonder if he'll think it's worth it in the end if things turn sour on the road. These are not easy people he's decided to team up with.

Fleetwood Mac is the reason I'm a musician/ sound man/ lighting guy. I became obsessed with them at age 13. Today is the most disgusting day I can ever recall. Today, I'm DONE with them. I'll NEVER buy another ticket or album, or repackaging of 40yo songs.

I'll say it one last time - Stevie Nicks is the WORST thing that ever happened to FM. Bitter old f*cking HAG! I hope she rots in Hell!

I have no words right now. I am devastated. Why? What could possibly have shattered it all? Why couldn't they hold it together for this Farewell Tour? I have loved the Mac since Bob Welch's era and have been singing and twirling to Rhiannon since 1976 but no more! I refuse to feed this cash cow anymore!

Just a theory, but I don't think Stevie can really write songs anymore without help. I mean, her last new material was on In Your Dreams but take away the songs that were reworked old demo's, EVERYTHING that was new was a co-write. Meaning the last thing she actually wrote new was for Say You Will in 2002, over a decade ago. Dave Stewart made IYD happen and 24KG was all old songs.

Whereas Lindsey's creativity seems to be steadier. Perhaps not as prolific as Stevie's was back in the day, but consistent enough to release solid material every few years.

Did you feel the same way in 1987?

Mick had 2 choices

Pick the creative brain behind Fleetwood Mac to do a final tour
OR
Pick the person who fills the arena

He picked the $$$$$$$$$$$

I REALLY hope that the true reason will come out. This is beyond sad. I love the Mac but I can't believe that they let Lindsey go. Why?
If it really is Stevie's doing I will be having a f*cking hard time accepting that.
