Speaking of Stevie/Petty stuff...
SaraRhiannon's site has mp3's of Stevie and Petty trying to put "Sanctuary" together. I always loved that finished demo. Since Stevie always pulls one or two "forgotten" tunes together for each of her albums, do y'all think she'll ever formally release "Sanctuary"? I hope so, but I think it's in the same Timespace as "The Dealer", which should also be released- but I dunno... Onto a tangent- Stevie REALLY should have done "The Dealer" on TISL instead of "Too Far From Texas". If you're gonna do Cali-fried country, that would definitely be the choice. ("Too Far From Texas" = stinker) |

I think The Dealer would have fit PERFECTLY on Belladonna as it has that 1890's cardplayin' on the bayou on a riverboat sound to it. LOL!! I LOVE this song and am disappointed it wasn't put on BD instead of Think About It, but whattayagannado?

For Bella Donna, Stevie really had an embarrassment of riches at her disposal. "The Dealer" and "Sanctuary" are both excellent _ they probably would have been my favorites on the album had they made the cut.
What's mind-boggling is that she also had "Sleeping Angel," "Blue Lamp" and "Gold and Braid" from the BD sessions. Those are some of my very favorite Stevie songs ever. Why none of them made it is beyond me... but then again, BD as it turned out was excellent too. Just about everything she recorded back then was gold, wasn't it? |

I don't think The Dealer or Sanctuary would fit in on BD, but I could see either or both on a new album. Sanctuary would be an appropriate title song, though it's a bit catchier on first listen than her other title songs.

It depends on what the concept of Stevie's new record is. She likes the whole concept thing.
I never cared for Too Far From Texas, even though I love it when Waddy makes his guitar all twangy. Sorry I'm incapable of expressing that thought any better. I'm not sure how it wound up on TISL, except that Stevie must like it and has a tradition of putting Sandy Stewart songs on her records. |

Too Far From Texxxxxxxaaaasssssss never blew my skirt up, so I would've prefered Stevie reciting the Hoboken telephone book. I don't think Sanctuary will ever make it to an album, but I believe Julia will.

my personal favorite right now is Lady From the Mountain. I think she could and should include that on her next album.

Considering that there is usually 12 or 13 tracks on a CD how many would you like to be old demo re-recorded? I wouldn't mind about half being old stuff, but I always love to hear the new tunes. Stevie in the 'now' so to speak Love Sarah

Awright! Julia is one of my favorite demos. I really hope it makes it onto an album someday. I always liked that picture of Stevie, Sharon (in her coke-bottle-bottom glasses) and Lori holding up the lyrics to this song on Mead spiral notebook paper of all things! (remember that stuff, along with Pee-Chee folders
) I like the idea of "no teasing spirits, no false laughter". And "she loves the stars, she loves you". What the hell, all of the lyrics to this song are great. "Drawn by a small, golden horse She runs like the wind, yeah" Is it true that Iovine didn't like this song and that's why it wasn't included on Wild Heart?

Her Solo Cd should go something like this:
1. Sanctuary (title track) 2. Julia 3. Lady From The Moutain 4. :new song: 5. :new song: 6. :new song: 7. If You Were My Love 8. :new song: 9. :new song: 10. :new song: 11. :new song: 12. :new song: 13. Christian (with a little work to it, I think it would end an album perfectly) -Curtis (new ledgie)
