The lyrics may not mean much to some, but we all hang on to certain lines when we are at different times in our lives. "wind blows, one way, time goes, but love is here to stay..." mean A LOT to me right now after this heavy loss.
Wondergirl is an iconic resident of Ledge. 21 years I have been coming here and I know for the vast majority of that time her posts have been go to reading for me.

With sorrow did I read of your loss. My father passed on June 16, 1992, the day Out of the Cradle was released. To this day so many words, sounds, and moods from that album bring me back and move me forward.

I've listened through the album once since I got it yesterday. I know it isn't Fleetwood Mac, but if it was it would be missing something. I'm not saying that something is Ms Nicks, but it seems to be missing a certain spark that we'd get from FM albums.

There is a certain magic that seemed to happen on FM albums, that Lindsey would always get Stevie to sound better than she did on her solo stuff, or there would always be a rockier and more coherent sound to Lindsey's stuff than on his solo albums. Christine, when she was around, just wrote catchy little tunes.

So we have no Stevie, no coherent Lindsey and no catchy little Christine.

That's my view after one listen, so will give it another chance if I'm out of the shop and driving around tomorrow.

In the thread "which Buckingham mcvie shows are you goingto" thread, your response says everything you need to know about your intentions here.

" i'm going to the Hyde Park show… Oh wait buckvie"

Yes if outside praise matters it would seem about 8-8.5 out of 10 reviews are positive.

It is a fine album with some great moments and a only 1 or 2 average to ok sequences.

I remind myself that Christine is going to be 74 in a month and how many 67 year olds who have earned their retirement are still so involved in the creative process to not just write and sing, but produce, arrange, play, program, engineer their vision into craft? It is for a me testimony to the endless spirit of needing to be vital forever long, even if the definition of that vitality evolves.

I was trying to think of any other artist putting out music this vital at this stage of the game in their careers. I really can't think of any... I'm enjoying this much.

This is what makes this even more impressive. Continued innovation and expiermentation, at there age. Imagine Lindsey had crafted this when he was 30, because it has the freshness of someone who is still hungry and curious. I can't think of any artist who is still doing this at this age. Couldn't be happier with this album. We should all be grateful and applaud just how much this rocks.

What's the innovation and experimentation on this album? They seem to be playing it pretty safe on this album and a few times sound a lot like songs they did in years past. Definitely not pushing the envelope here. And rocks? I don't see it. Lindsey, as I mentioned before, seems to be holding back and seldom if ever really lets loose. He rocks quite a bit less than he usually does both in FM and solo.

Look, I don't hate it. I just don't love it and it's great that you and many others do. But this description of the album doesn't seem to be describing the same songs.

I'm loving this album so much. I've been boring my family playing it loud in the house. It's an album I'm proud to play. I'm embarrassed to play certain parts of Mirage in public. I love Tusk but I'd be embarrassed to play certain Tusk songs. Every song on this album is strong...and quite contemporary despite the nods to the past. I think its up there with White album and Rumours in terms of the consistency of the songs. Unfortunately as I played the first four songs so may times I'm finding I'd rather miss them out at the moment. I'm sure I'll come back to them.

I voted On With The Show as my favourite song (for some reason it reminds me of REM, especially the first part of the song) but I think Game of Pretend might be catching it up.

There's just no pleasing some people

PS: this album is more 'Fleetwood Mac' than Say You Will.

I gotcha, everyone is entitled to there opinion. Not pushing? In my world is the best example I can use (for now anyway! ) Listen to the vocal... first verse has the lead panned straight up the middle, with an almost gated/ double tracked just off to the left, while the Mcvie bass line is straight up the middle with a fuzz bass off to the right! So cool how they work with each other, making the listener feel like they are discovering something every time they listen back. I feel like I'm being given a free master class in music production from a living legend. For music/recording geeks like me this is as good as it gets. Then there is the flanged/delay backup vocal on the chorus off to the left. Helps build up the chorus without distracting you too much. Tough to really explain all of the things I hear, but I don't find this stuff anywhere else, in any kind of music. Lindsey is just an incredible artist. Sure it has elements or influences of Tango on there but it's definitely different and new.

As for rocking... Music doesn't have to blow the windows out to rock. I think one of the best concerts I've ever been to was a Ryan Adams acoustic show. One man, one guitar, one voice.

But if you're looking for rocking in the traditional sense, turn up the last minute or so of the album. There is no way anyone on this board; and we all love this band, didn't have goose bumps when Lindsey plays a solo like that. Makes you want to play the album all over again.

I love reading when people see as deeply into the Mac as I do.
On this album there are many jewels to mine.

I've listened through a couple of times...but with it as background music, not intensely.

Only negative thing I have is that Lindsey repurposed "Sleeping Around The Corner". He just released that on "Seeds We Sow"...this is just redundant.

Will post again after I tear the songs apart on a more focused listen.

For sure he starts to get going right at the very end, but then it fades out so quickly. Feels like it should go on for a little bit more. That's the one clear example though.
