Just watched it and loved it. Now I really want to see them live...might do the Murphy's gig now.

Pre-recorded background vocals on the chorus but it sounded great

I really liked this version of In My World more than the album version but am still not fond of the groans and grunts. The song doesn't need it. Last edited by kak125; 06-09-2017 at 09:39 AM.. |

A lot of tracks on there! Hear all the auxiliary percussion during the verses? Jimmy's not playing that!

I kinda hate the pre-recorded percussion, backing vox and all that. It's seems to be Lindsey's trademark of live performances these days. While it might fill out the sound to make it more "album" like, it ZAPS all the spontaneity out of the LIVE performances*— making them the exact SAME performance from show to show. Only the vocals and guitar solos have a chance of being different. And on a song like "IN My world" there's no hope of that.

Just my humble opinion: something about Christine twirling her finger seems awkward to me. It's like when Stevie held up 2 fingers while singing TWO GHOSTS with Harry Stiles (or any of the other mime she's been prone to in recent years). None of them used to do this-it gives the impression they're not comfortable with themselves on stage

Song sounded good. Lindsey's on his game. But is Christine actually playing the keys at all? Once in a while she places her right hand on a chord, but I'm getting the sense her instrument is a prop. Also, I can hardly hear her vocally. I'm chalking this up to nerves and her fear of sounding out of tune on a televised event. But I really can't wait for her to open up more live.

Christine was there?
She certainly wasn't playing or singing |

I honestly think Christine was playing and singing... but her keyboards and microphone weren't plugged in.
I thought the performance was fine, but I couldn't hear Christine at all. Why perform a song like In My World, that focuses on one performer, in an act that is a well-known duo? At least perform a song that gives Christine something to do. |

A sign Christine doesn't seem to really play on the record is when she's singing the verses she's not even MIMING that she's playing..... her hand is just resting on the keyboard. What the hell is Brett playing? What he played on the record when LB did it as a solo recording???
![]() And why is her voice sooooooooo down in the mix???? I hope they do better with the next song they pick as a single. It would only be fair to do Red Sun next to showcase Christine. This is not a duet song.

This was fine performance, but I have to admit that the pre-recorded backing vocals and "extra" instrumentation feel a bit like cheating to me. How much of what they do is really even live?
Christine was singing on the verses, but her mic was really low. I don't think she was even playing the keys. At one point, I noticed that her hand was just resting on one chord, and it was like that most of the performance. Then when Lindsey launched into his solo at the end, she walked away from the keyboards entirely. Weird..... |

I believe they are also performing on the Saturday Sessions segment of the CBS This Morning show (saturday version). That airs 7-9 eastern and here where I am on the west coast they air it live at the same time as it airs on the east coast (which I found out the hard way when I thought they were going to be on it last week--- which is now good because I won't miss it tomorrow). They do re-run the segments on their website.
The Saturday Sessions seems to always consist of a pre recorded interview and then some kind of live performance-- a lot of times the band is live in the tv studio on the day of airing (the band last week was)...but sometimes it is a live performance recorded at the same time as the interview. I suspect that will be the case-- they recorded them performing something in rehearsals. Let's hope it's something other than IMW......(but likely it will be) ![]()

Well that was disappointing! Awful choice of song to draw people in, should have been SOTC.
Christine's vocals were poor, the mic was probably low so they didn't pick much of it up. Lots of added percussion and guitar that was not live? And I don't even think Christine was playing keyboard, her hand didn't move much. I did like the choruses and the bass player is pretty funky, but apart from that, not a great performance. How awful is the hummed bridge as well? Needs louder piano there.

I also wish Lindsey had interacted with Chris more. As the song went on there were several times where she looked at him and was hoping for some feedback but he was just almost in "solo" mode and kept focus straight ahead.... only at the very end he leaned in to her. Odd coz in FM they often have a lot of interaction and exchanging looks at each other across the stage.....
