Default SA/Houston Random Thoughts

I'm back and I'm exhausted!! ;-)

I'll add more to this thread later - but here's a few highlights:

These were my 6th and 7th shows - Stevie's performance in SA was the best I've seen on this tour! She was on fire - especially during the Rhiannon ending, the GDW wail, and the Silver Springs ending. We got 13 twirls during Stand Back.

In Houston, I had a little private moment with LB during World Turning. I worked my way up front during GYOW (1st event at this arena, security were dumbasses and I figured I could do it after the first few rows rushed the stage after Stand Back). Anyway, I was on the far right side, and when LB was sitting on the floor during Mick's thing - there was a little crack of space between his monitor and the black cloth covering the techie guys on the side of the stage. I could see LB's face perfectly through through the crack and he finally looked at me, and I waved. He smiled and made a face like you'd make if you just ran into someone you know and haven't seen for awhile...he mouthed "HI!" and smiled and waved back. Hee! I shook his hand again after Don't Stop. *sigh*

The sound at the new Toyota Center in Houston was fantastic! Very clear and crisp.

I love the mock-boxing/slow dancing Tusk thing they do now, very cute!

In SA, I saw a girl throw a t-shirt up to LB, he wiped his sweat onto it and tossed it back to her.

There were a lot of Stevie wanna-bes dressed up in Houston; and the Houston crowd seemed much more into it - the people on the floor were on their feet all night.

More later - got work to do!

Default Gypsy ending different?

Here's something I noticed in Houston. Stevie sang "I still see your bright eyes" twice during Lindsey's guitar solo at the end of Gypsy. I don't remember her doing this at the Dallas show I was at or on any of the recordings we've gotten from shows so far.

Is this new, or has she been doing it in recent shows? It was a nice surprise to hear it since she didn't even do it on the Dance DVD. I was kind of worried that I wouldn't see anything different from Dallas, but there you go.

I also think her Rhiannon, GDW wail, and endings to BC and SS were much improved since I saw her in July...a lot more intense anyway.

Any other thoughts?

Brad

On the 2nd leg, Stevie really has kicked it up a notch - and yeah, the Gypsy ending is different, and she added the "do-do-do's" in there as well.

She also changed the end of Beautiful Child - w/ the "I still love you, I do love you" thing.

More about Houston: The band's flight crew was sitting a few rows behind us - in Section 106. Taku came out before the show, looking for people in that section. A few minutes later, two men sat in front of us and started asking me all kinds of questions about Taku. One of them was Taku's first percussion teacher. I didn't ask his name - but he was really cool - he asked me what the name of the bass player was! *heh*. When Taku started the Stand Back intro, I told them "There's your boy, this is his moment." After Stand Back, one of them turned around and said "I'm liking THIS!" I told them to enjoy the rest of the show and that's when I headed for the floor.

To be continued....

I wanted to add the Landslide dedications:

In San Antonio - "I want to dedicate this to you - because I used to live in Texas - and I loooooove Texas!"

In Houston, I made the call! She dedicated it to Sandy Stewart - just saying that a good friend of hers was there...I have no idea what Sandy looks like these days, but I still looked around for her in our section, since we were sitting amongst friends of the band and the flight crew.
