The verses are amazing live.. but they screwed up the chorus.
I have to disagree. The whole thing is really good and the harmonies on the chorus are great. They are doing exactly what they do on the record except the overdubbed back and forth of the other harmony vocal.

Not exactly true... they don't sustain.. hold meeeeeee hold meeeeeeeee hold meeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

vs...

hold meeeeeeeee hold meeeeeeee yeahhhh uuuuhhhhhhhhh

to me that is a cheap way out of a real E vowel... E (the vowel, not the note) are harder for a singer to sustain and stay in pitch...

I do like the bridge with the piano, drums and guitar working off each other..

Christine is spot on for the piano...

I wonder if she feels the same way about recording a solo record.
She's comes off as:

1. I only care about sales.
2. Creating isn't fun.
3. I have to be the boss in collaborations.
4. Money

Not sure why she doesn't understand Lindsey and Christine's premise. It's quite simple. They want to create. They are artists.

I couldn't be a bigger fan of Stevie's but I totally agree. This is disappointing. I thought she said a couple of years back that sales don't matter?

I think she kind of does. I think (and this is just my theory) that she might do another solo record but it'll just be another album like 24KG, with old demos just rerecorded and polished up. I feel like obviously FM has its own issues but in general, her attitude towards the music industry has changed and it's really impacted her desire to create anything new.

I listened to the Rumours deluxe last night and put on GDW live 1977.
And I thought of how much I love this woman.
I don't want her to be like this.

Maybe she should have taken more of a break like Lindsey and Christine.

Lindsey had 10 years. Christine had 15+. Stevie only had about 4 years of quitting FMac. I mean Peter, Jeremy, Danny and many other just simply had to get far away as possible from FMac.

I don't think it's so much as "sales" as what it costs them to make a record. I admittedly know ZERO about the record business, but isn't using studio time super expensive? If it is, it costs a lot more to record with Fleetwood Mac versus recording with someone like Dave Stewart, as it usually takes a lot more time with Fleetwood Mac. If this is the case, I totally understand her not wanting to invest in something like that, especially of you're miserable doing it. I wish the interviewer asked her if she felt the same about her solo recording, just to be clear.

Any one with a laptop and a "master bedroom," can make a record

I wish the interviewer would have pressed, too. She makes so many excuses that conflict. First she needs 2 years off, but then it's about money and sales. But then she alludes to wanting to be the boss and even know it's comforting being in a band, she likes to be in control.

I wish he would have asked her.

What is it that you don't understand about the premise of Christine and Lindsey's wanting to create new music as living artists?

Because in my opinion it's about her not wanting to compromise. And while that's her right. Just be honest about it.

What I hear is, "If I'm going to get a big hit record out of it, then it's worth being in a room with Lindsey agonizing over every little moment on a song for a year. If not, no way I'm gonna do it". Fair enough....she sees FM as a money-making venture and she's only going to participate in the activities that meet that criteria. There's no mention at all of her seeing FM as a creative outlet or an artistic venture. It's a business, and that's it. Good to know.

Touring to meet those business goals is more fun than being cooped up in a studio. I can see that part-- traveling around, great hotels, private jets, etc. So it's, "If I can make money and spend some of it treating myself well and doing something more fun, then I'll do it. I'm not going to put a lot of effort into stuff that won't make money."

She'll never retire because when you retire you "get small". What does that mean? You lose your influence? Ok, maybe so, but you get to do all the things you've bitched for years you never have time to do.

The "I could have gotten married, I could have had kids, I could have made amazing albums." Well, not when you say you've always NOT wanted to be married, that a man was always going to come second, that you wouldn't have kids coz you'd be too busy to raise them but it would kill you to see your kids attached to someone else (a big theme in her interviews al those years ago). That's all nonsense. That's romantic claptrap that would never have happened but makes a good tragic romantic story of love and loss that she adores so much.

What I don't get is her comment about "THey've known I've been on the road since Sept so I don't get their premise" what does that mean? She doesn't understand why they are saying it could have been a FM album but she refused to do it? Is she saying look they shouldn't have planned any kind of FM album after the last tour coz they knew i was doing a solo tour? Thing is, they were looking at doing an album before that. Maybe they are all guilty of being greedy thinking ok let's do a tour first and then do an album with Chris. But my sense was always that they wanted to do an album with Chris right away. We all think they should have recorded first then toured with Chris with new material. I see business managers' hands all over that decision--- ride the momentum and tour with Chris now....and THAT help kill ever doing a band album. Though honestly, Stevie was never going to do it.

Never. Going. To. Record. With. Them. Ever. Again. EVER.

It came across to me Stevie was saying what she said about recording with FM, not her solo work. Instead of saying the words "I hate recording with Lindsey because he's a bleep bleep bleep," she's trying to be diplomatic and polite. But anyone can tell that's why she won't record with FM again. That stuff about sales is just to avoid badmouthing Lindsey.
