24KG sold nearly 200K overall and In Your Dreams around 300K. She can still move product and would sell more of a new album because of the increased profile of the current tour and the media buzz and critical acclaim.

In a different thread, SLN1 predicted:

Shortly thereafter, the 24KG tour was announced.

SLN1 also separately and correctly predicted that Stevie would be recording a new version of Gypsy (which I believe will be released in connection with the upcoming Netflix series).

So the question is: did SLN1 also correctly predict a new album?

Curious what inside info this member has, and whether they have any additional insights to offer

Going by her recent comments on streaming and kids "stealing her songs" I 'd say you can stick a fork in her recording career it's done.

Meh. I've largely steered clear of the threads addressing those comments, given the negativity therein. But since this relates to the possibility of a new solo album, I'll just say, the reaction has been way overblown. Stevie has been saying things like this for years, it's nothing new, nor surprising. It simply boils down to her view that:
  • The record industry isn't what it used to be (true).
  • Records don't sell like they used to (with some rare exceptions (e.g., Adele), also true).
  • Given those two facts, why waste my time being miserable by recording with FM?

She's not angry at "the kids," nor is she upset at her record sales, given the current nature of the industry. At this stage in her career, she simply can't justify the downsides of recording with FM - a view that at this point, she's entirely entitled to have.

I have no doubt that she's not through with her solo recording career. My only hope is that she takes advantage of this time away from FM by moving on it now.

Just my two cents.

Maybe instead of 24K II, she can work on remastered/expanded editions of Rock-A-Little and The Other Side of the Mirror?

The current music industry is in a terrible state in regards to physical album sales. Streaming is the new thing. I admit, I do it. I still like to buy CD's though.

All of this aside, Stevie Nicks can still sell an album. 24KG still sold over 100k in the US alone which is pretty good for an artist of her age. IYD sold over 200k which is really good. So she can still sell enough records to be considered a current successful artist.

Another boringly produced album...no thanks. I listened to 24k once. So sterile and uninspired.

Listen again. It is possibly one of the best albums she has done. It was almost universally critically acclaimed. The songs are all hers and the production and delivery honest and convincing.

Funny how everyone was enthusiastic when 24K Gold first was out and now everyone seems to hate it instead. It still among my favourite album from Stevie..

It was and remains among my favorites of hers - third only after BD and WH.

I agree I love 24 Karat Gold. I would definitely rank it higher than TOSOTM, In Your Dreams, and Street Angel. Bella Donna and Wild Heart are my favorites but I might put 24 Karat Gold in a close tie with Rock a Little and TISL.

Agreed. Although I persevered with it, I still don't rate it. Sloppy production, distorted vocals. And in comparison to the demo's, a lot of the finished tracks were butchered.

I liked the whole concept of the album but for me it's far too under-produced. I hope there's a different producer for the next one. I know they're supposed to be different styles of albums but if you listen to 24KG straight after TISL it's shocking and just sounds like a bunch of lazily put together demos that have been recorded in about 10 minutes.

It also doesn't help that TISL is a masterpiece that was produced to absolute perfection. In my opinion.

I just don't hear the problems with 24KG production except that Stevie's voice sounds tired on several tracks and several of them such as The Dealer and Hard Advice are just dull songs anyway. What they did with some of the songs in a short time is totally amazing, IMO. If something similar were done with another truckload of old demos I would die happy.
