Besides the absence of Julia from the reissue, is there additional evidence Stevie will put out 24K Part 2? If so, when is that likely to happen? Sorry if that has been addressed elsewhere.

Q: Hi Stevie Nicks! Your new album is amazing and I'm thrilled with the song selection. I do have one question -- do you have any plans to re-record "Julia" sometime in the future? It's long been a fan favorite, and many of us were very surprised you didn't include it on 24 Karat Gold. A: It was on the original list. It's kind of like why the songs that DID make the record didn't make it back in '75. You have to start cutting songs. When I do '24 Karat Gold- Part 2 Songs from the Vault,' Julie will definitely be on it! And then there was what she said in an article with McLeans in January 2015... Q: 24 Karat Gold could easily have a Part 2 or 3 because of the number of demos you have. What would you include on it? A: I think that this is one of the best records I’ve ever made. So I can’t just let this record go. When the Fleetwood Mac tour is over, I might go straight back to Nashville and record eight or nine songs, and Warner Brothers can take it and repackage the album. I have another 10 demos. There’s a song that’s called City of Hope that I love that needs to go out because that’s [the name of the California-based hospital] Robin was in. I spent a lot of time driving through the big sign that says “City of Hope” when there was no hope. With a bottle of brandy and a gram of cocaine, thinking, “Please God, don’t let her die.” To answer your question, though, I'm not sure there's a time frame of when it's going to happen. I don't think it's going to be anytime soon. She doesn't currently have a label contract, either. But it seems that it is definitely "on her radar", since she's mentioned "Julia", "City Of Hope" and another song about John F. Kennedy. As well as that comment about another 10 demos. |

Indeed. I'd be willing to bet it's going to be one of the photos showcased in the new liner notes.

It kind of sucks that they're not doing a "super deluxe" package where you can get the vinyl records WITH the CDs. :/

The Wild Heart is at #28 on the Amazon US top 100 albums chart! That's incredible!

And those amazing Wild Heart tour videos...they kind of have a bluish tinge to them? I never understood why that wasn't released; it seems like a professionally-shot show. ...the one with Elaine.

But I will say that it's important to keep in mind that Rhino Records is now currently set up to be the "catalog division" of Warner Brothers. From the wikipedia... In June 2006, Warner Strategic Marketing in the U.K. was dissolved and Rhino Records was formed. The division has two main factions: TV-advertised compilations (for example Pure Garage Rewind Back to the Old School) and catalog material from the Warner vaults Since this is the case, I bet these expanded editions don't count toward anything within a new contract, if there is one. All we really know is that she said "24KG" fulfilled her contract with Warner Brothers, but she didn't say whether she had signed a new one or not. |

I'm grateful for these two reissues but at the same time, it can't be denied that this is a wasted opportunity. For instance, I'm surprised how mingy Stevie's been with the bonus discs - just 11 tracks for Bella Donna and 9 for The Wild Heart?? Even the deluxe version of 24KG had 16 tracks. I realise there are some purists who prefer for original remastered albums to stand alone but I would have appended the b-sides and other non-albums tracks ("Blue Lamp", "Sleeping Angel", "Violet & Blue" and "Garbo") as actual bonus tracks and filled the respective second discs with demos and outtakes.
I'm frustrated by the BD bonus disc having two versions of "Sleeping Angel" and an 'early version' of "Edge Of Seventeen" (which probably runs for an eternity) when there are so many brilliant recordings from this period (previously mentioned in this thread) that could have been included. Of course, the same goes for the TWH bonus disc but I must admit that what has been included has me salivating in anticipation ("Sorcerer" and "I Sing For The Things" in particular seem promising). Furthermore, the BD Live disc is let down by the exclusion of "Think About It" and "Blue Lamp", rendering it incomplete. As others have noted, a dvd of this concert should have also been included. I'm still excited about these releases but they could have been so much more... PS With regard to a possible Rock A Little deluxe release in the future, I agree with another poster who suggested the complete "Mirror, Mirror" album (as intended in late 1984). That would make sense as a concept and include some outstanding tracks. |
