He would dominate a show and a tour. He did with SYW. Screeching yelping drawn out embarrassing faux guitar-god dreck.

You mean Christine McVie who came back and sold out 6 shows at the Forum with her return.. when just a year earlier FMac couldn't sell the Staples center? We won't even talk about the billboard article that gave her a little credit for being gone 15 years and turning the band on it's head for a 1 1/2 tour.

That Christine McVie? You're right she means nothing to Fleetwood Mac. What album was your first, btw?

Hey, I love Christine McVie!! But I'm a FM fanatic. Unfortunately, most of my co-workers don't know who she is. And mentioning Got a Hold on Me doesn't ring any bells for them. The average person has no idea who she is.

Wonder if they would still use Stevie's back up singers? Think they'd move Christine to the center of the stage? Or would she still stay in the back left corner?

To replace Stevie's songs, I wonder if Lindsey will perform more 12 minute solos on songs like Not That Funny, I'm So Afraid, and Come? Maybe more of his solo work like Big Love, Go Insane, the Ledge, or Walk a Thin Line?
Ridiculous! Hello Christine?????? This thread makes NO sense.

You must be a coal miner in Siberia then

Christine had most of the hits with the Mac.

And a lot of people think Stevie Nicks is a guy. I'm not interested in dumbing myself down for people.

lol i know. it's in part baffling and in part amusing.

people who so obviously care only about SN in this band, now when she gets to do what she wants, are still not happy. they can see her all on her own without all these other band members that they seem to hate so much. and obviously there's no reason for these chiffs to go see this particular 4/5 FM so i'm really not sure why they care how those shows will go.

this way everybody wins people, why hate?! only love and excitement!

I agree there's a lot of hate on this board. I'm not calling any of the band members names or making rude comments about their appearances.

I do think a FM album without Stevie would sell the same as a Lindsey solo album.

I do think without Stevie, Lindsey would add more solos.

I do think publicity helps sells albums, and that neither Christine or Lindsey would appear on tv programs.

You don't have to be a coal miner in another country to not know who Christine McVie is. Stevie had several hit solo songs and albums, had several solo videos, and appeared in a lot of magazine articles and covers. She's been solo on shows like the Tonight Show, David Letterman, Ellen, Rosie, the Voice, American Idol, America's Got Talent, and Dancing with the Stars. Those shows keep her name and image visible to the public. Christine simply doesn't have the name recognition that Stevie does. This is not a criticism or insult to Christine, simply a fact. She moved back to England some 15 years ago- in that time, Stevie has continued to release music and appear on TV. Hell, she even had a song sampled by Beyonce! That kind of thing keeps Stevie well-known.

But if you want to think that Christine is just as well-known as Stevie, go for it.

Maybe, but at least they've heard the name Stevie Nicks. Most folks don't know Lindsey Buckingham at all, and many who might no doubt think Lindsey's a woman.

Actually, I don't care how much it sells. One of my all time favorite albums is "Bee Thousand" by Guided by Voices, and it only sold about 50,000. It's considered an indie rock masterpiece. That being said, just going by number of top 40 singles, Christine is overwhelmingly the voice of Fleetwood Mac.

Christine is on the record as not being a fan of extended guitar solos. So, you're just wrong.

Yeah, 24KG did so well after Stevie went on TV.

Yes, Stevie is a publicity whore. Duets with Tom Petty and Don Henley in 1981, Bruce Hornsby and Kenny G in 1989, Natalie Maines and Sheryl Crow in 2001. Stevie loves kissing the asses of hit makers de jour. Which is all something the others never really cared too much about.

And Stevie's prolific release schedule during Christine's abscence? Two solo albums, two solo comps, a live DVD, and an album of leaked demos she found on YouTube. Color me underwhelmed. She only had one more album of new material than the woman who essentially retired from the industry.

This may be the least intelligent discussion I've ever had with another fan about FMac. At least BlueDenim makes me laugh..

I'm out...

Hey, I'm just throwing what you say back to you. You say people think Stevie's a man, I turn around and say people think Lindsey's a woman. Why that would tick you off, I have no idea...

I don't disagree with much of what you said. All those things you mentioned, including things I'd completely forgotten about, like Stevie's tour with Sheryl Crow, her duets, and her appearances on TV all helped to keep her name and face in the public eye. Her appearances on the Voice lasted for several episodes, and that's a lot of exposure. I don't know that it helped her sell albums, but it sure kept her in the public eye and introduced her to people ages 6 and up. If you can find many 16 year olds that know who Christine McVie is, I'd be thrilled... and shocked. Same thing with Lindsey. This is not a criticism. If you want to phrase it as "she's a publicity whore," (and I think that's where the 'hate' comes in), fine. But that's why many more people know who Stevie is, certainly much more than Christine or Lindsey.

Saying FM should not tour as a foursome without Stevie because people at the water cooler at work know her and like her better than the others is ridiculous. Even if this were true, it doesn't take into account that "best known" doesn't necessarily equal "quality music." The majority of FM fans (as opposed to millennial Stevie fans and casual admirers of Rumours) are interested in the music first: the selfies, the drag shows, the American Horror Story cameos, the costume changes, the "Landslide"-is-about-Katrina-and-all-other-important-world-events-shtick, and the Voice and American Idol guest spots are fun and all, but they have nothing really to do with the music we're interested in hearing.

plus, name Fleetwood Mac is way more commercially viable than name Stevie Nicks.

so there's no argument there.
