At this point, I see no logical reason that Stevie should go on a major talk show outlet and perform "Stand Back" or "Landslide". Promotional choices like that only cement her status as a "Dinosaur Act". If she wants to be seen as a viable artist who still creates and grows, she needs to present new material in these formats. That will mean playing something from the "24 Karat Gold" album.
Of course, Stevie's team has made some strange promotional decisions. Let's see what happens. |

I agree with all of you.Why is she doing old tunes. I think its what the general fans want to hear is the hits and not the new and unknown songs from older established artists and bands.I know some will disagree here with me but its all about hits. Also the same with TV people .They dont want the viewers to turn the channel when an older artist sings a a new tune .

I can't speak for Olive, but I think the point is that it's "too bad" she's going on a television show to promote a NEW tour from a NEW (or "newer"
) album with NEW songs and yet she misses her opportunity to showcase one of those songs by performing an OLD song. Don't get me wrong, I love "EO17" but it's been done to death! I'd kill to hear her perfform the title track from 24KG or something else from that album (except "Lady". LOL!) |

Ok I have to agree with you. I would love a performance of a new song...but I think we can agree that I bet she was asked to do something classic. Plus, 24K Gold is already 2 years old. At least it is something upbeat and can show she can still rock.

I have come to the conclusion that Stevie is comfortable and JUST FINE with resting on her laurels. She's developed a substantial body of work, and I truly think she has NO INTENTION of continuing to grow as an artist----which, after a lifetime of work, is her right. However, don't complain when she begins to be labeled a "Dinosaur Act" with no new product or desire for continued growth. She can run around the country singing the same 10 songs for the rest of her life and be paid quiet well for it. So, that's fine. Personally, I have NO INTEREST in watching her sing "Stand Back", "Landslide", "Edge of 17", or "Dreams" on another talk show OR live venue. I won't be tuning in; been there, done that. |

I understand how WatchChain feels, but I'll be tuning in to see if she's interviewed and what she might have to say.

I think it would be great for her to just talk, not even necessarily perform/say the same things and leave. She's a wise, thoughtful lady, and if she would just go off-script a little her personality will draw people to want to find out more about her.
That said, Carpool Karaoke would be the PERFECT opportunity to touch on all those old hits in a fun, new way. ![]()

Yeah, but remember when she was on Letterman in the late 90's. She had just finished performing and the band started playing out to commercial with an instrumental version of Rhiannon and Stevie literally pushed Dave out of the way, grabbed the mic and started singing. I think she could rock out with car karaoke.
