I was talking to a guy who is about 34 and he said he had lost interest in Green Day, but when he heard their new song Bang Bang he got a rush of excitement that reminded him of how he first felt about them when he was 12 years old. Suddenly, he was interested in the band again. I smiled and thought, I want to know what that feels like, once more.

And no one is delusional, except the people who think record sales matter at this point. People who want an album want it for the music. They want to see where these people are creatively. They want them to stop standing on their laurels. They want something fresh to hold on after these guys start dying. We aren't clamoring for a new album for the money it will generate, not for the publicity.

Hi Michele,

If this album were to come out let's say in 2017, there could be a lot of press indicating it's the first release from THIS lineup in 30 Years. I don't see how that wouldn't get the die hards and the casual fans excited. I recall that Eagles album several years back that was pretty popular and may have been a Walmart exclusive.

Times are certainly different now with streaming, but I could see them getting mentioned on all the entertainment sites and shows.

She has never been alive to me. Stevie is overrated imo.

I felt it several times with FM already. Tango in the Night, The Dance, and most recently, when Christine rejoined the band. Is it too much to ask for one more time?

Yes, what a cow to take time to live her life in her late 60s the way she wants. She really should be drawn and quartered.

I hate her! How dare she leave the band hanging like this and not record at least one last studio album with them? And then one last tour? She's selfish and not thinking of the millions of fans who supported them all these years. Plus, I even heard she's going to record a solo album, which is ridiculous. I hate her so much.
I understand she's moved to another country and has developed a fear of flying, but still...

Oh, wait- we're talking about Christine McVie, and how she deserted the band several years ago, right?

When Christine came back, Lindsey said it was going to be "a fruitful time" for the band.

To get all of these "dozens" of songs out...

Buckingham McVie, 2016

Fleetwood Mac, 2017 (Final Double Album / Complete Box Set including Buckingham Nicks)

Buckingham McVie, 2018 / Stevie Solo, 2018

Buckingham McVie, 2019

Buckingham McVie, 2020 (The Very Best of Album including Storytellers)

Stevie Nicks (40 Year Annivesary Complete Box Set), 2021

This would give opportunity to release all the music all the ways the band members want to.

And enough of the World Tours. One final World Tour followed by a Storytellers and small venues.

Thoughts? Too organized for Fleetwood Mac? Lindsey knows how to put out albums regularly. Why not with Christine, John, and Mick as Buckingham McVie?

But the band forged ahead without her. If Stevie wants to live her life and move on, fine. But the remaining four need to do what the SAY YOU WILL LINEUP did and push forward. They won't because Stevie's still willing to tour with the band, and that means big money for all of them.

The difference between Christine quitting and Stevie not willing to record a new album is considerable. Christine drew a clear line and said "I'm done touring." She wanted to work with the band on SAY YOU WILL but the ultimatum she was given was clear: either tour with us or nothing at all. Why can't the band do the same thing here? Because 1) Mick has always valued touring and big money over anything else. 2) Stevie hasn't drawn a definite line. She's saying "not now." 3) The band's popularity since 1976 has always been its weapon; losing their most popular (if not musically essential) member frightens the bejesus out of them.

Yup it was and it sold like 3.5 million double albums. And because of the running time that made it 7X platinum.

The B is willing to tour for TWO years but won't put in the time for new mx. Very telling. It's all about the cash now.

Well, maybe we're being too harsh. Christine has the right to go back to England and do gardening. It seems strange that after all those world tours, she suddenly developed a fear of flying, though. Plus, she could have recorded one more album with the band before she flew back to England. Instead, she did a world tour and then split.

You're right- it was all about the cash for Christine! She wasn't even willing to put in the time for new mx. Very telling, indeed!
